A 3rd (and 4th) film in the Bad Boys franchise was talked about for years, but ultimately never happened. Stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were saying in interviews that Bad Boys III was "in the works" for about a decade.
Things seemed to be finally happening back in 2015 when Sony locked down dates for Bad Boys 3 and 4 for 2017 and 2019, which were now being directed by Joe Carnahan. Bad Boys III then got the title Bad Boys for Life and was eyed for a Jan. 2018 release while 4 was tentatively set for mid-late 2019. In March 2017, Joe Carnahan left the project due to scheduling conflicts which were said to actually be "creative differences". Martin Lawrence then said in an August 2017 interview that he doesn't think that Bad Boys 3-4 will ever actually happen. Now NBC ordered a spin-off pilot starring Bad Boys' Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. |

Another sequel that seems to be in development hell is Madison County 2, sequel to the 2011 horror film, haven't heard anything new on it since it was announced several years ago.
2015's The Boy (starring David Morse and Rainn Wilson) was supposed to be the first film of a trilogy, no listing on IMDB. It was announced in 2014: http://deadline.com/2014/01/serial-k...h-wood-666585/ |

Universal's 2017 The Mummy was meant to launch the "Dark Universe" that was to feature updated versions of the classic Universal monsters all inter-connected. Javier Bardem was announced as Frankenstein’s monster, Johnny Depp was The Invisible Man, and The Mummy also featured Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde.
The Mummy turned out to be a major flop and both movie-goers and critics bashed it. Director Alex Kurtzman and writer Chris Morgan then abandoned the "Dark Universe" plans and a new Bride of Frankenstein was pulled from its Feb. 2019 release. |

He said that things were "looking good" some time ago but the company producing it went bankrupt and he couldn't get the budget together. I mentioned to him that I saw that the sequel plans were greenlit back in 2009 and he laughed and said that the sequel was greenlit back in 1998 when Strangeland came out. He finished with saying that he's not actively working on it. |

Another sequel that's been talked about but never happened is a fifth Subspecies film. Director Ted Nicolaou, Anders Hove and Denice Duff were at Chiller where I got to meet them today.
I asked them all individually on the status of the film as I mentioned to them that I met Full Moon's staff at another Chiller back in 2014 where they said it was going to happen. Anders Hove and Denise Duff mentioned that there have been some recent developments within "the past few weeks", but Anders Hove said he's not getting his hopes up until it "actually starts happening." Ted Nicolaou said that these recent developments are the closest that they've ever had on seeing it happen and he wants to get the chance to do it "before everyone's dead." |

There were plans in the works for a second Batman film to feature George Clooney with Joel Schumacher returning for a third time as director.
But when 1997's Batman & Robin failed to meet Warner Bros expectations financially, the project was killed. Keep in mind that B&R wasn't a flop -- it made over $100 million in box office receipts. But for whatever reason, it wasn't enough for WB apparently. Because of that B&R was seen as a franchise killer and we wouldn't see another Batman movie for eight years. And the franchise had to be rebooted. |

Rambo V Was Originally Going to Put Sylvester Stallone Up Against an Inhuman Monster?!
by John Squires May 8, 2018 One of last week’s big pieces of news was that Sylvester Stallone will be reprising the role of John Rambo for Rambo V, a new installment in the franchise that’s set to film later this year and be released in Fall 2019. This time around, Stallone will do battle with the Mexican cartel; after a friend’s daughter is kidnapped, he crosses the border and does what he does best. Of course, this isn’t the first time a new Rambo project has been reported by the trades, with several different iterations of “the continuing adventures of John Rambo” popping up in the ten years since the release of 2008’s ultra-gory Rambo. At one point, Rambo was going to battle a cult that kidnaps his daughter, while another project was set to reboot the franchise. But the most interesting potential iteration of Rambo V was going to be an entirely different beast altogether (…quite literally), with Rambo battling his very first inhuman adversary! Back in 2009, one year after the release of Rambo, Nu Image/Millennium Films announced another installment of the franchise, which was said to be placing the title character into a whole new genre. Initial reports indicated it’d essentially be a sci-fi film, set in the Pacific Northwest and centered on a top secret military operation to create super soldiers. Naturally, things go very wrong with that operation, and Rambo comes in to clean up the mess. Stallone himself, however, soon clarified that the plot synopsis for what was being referred to as Rambo V: The Savage Hunt was wrong. Rather than being a Universal Soldier-type movie, as websites were reporting at the time, Stallone cleared the air and revealed that The Savage Hunt was actually going to be more of a Predator-type monster movie! “It’s not a Universal Soldier… it’s not me fighting a super soldier… it’s actually a feral beast,” Stallone explained back in September 2009. “It’s a… thing. It’s this amalgamation of fury and intelligence and pure, unadulterated rage. It’s before men became… hu-men. This is when they were still inhuman. And so, what Rambo confronts is something that is everyone’s nightmare. But in no sense of the word does he go against the Dolph Lundgren or Jean-Claude Van Damme super soldier.” Stallone continued, “He’s going against a feral beast that has absolute cunning and intelligence and a will to survive that is only matched by Rambo’s. And that’s what makes it uniquely different… man’s conscience fighting his dark, dangerous, uncontrollable subconscious. Very similar to the plot in Forbidden Planet… when the doctor couldn’t control his mind and his subconscious took over and became a savage killing machine. It’s your worst nightmare. You’re battling your primitive self.” According to reports at the time, Rambo V: The Savage Hunt‘s plot was inspired by James Byron Huggins’ 1999 novel Hunter, which Stallone had at one point acquired the rights to. In the novel, a beast (“a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments”) is loose somewhere north of the Arctic Circle, and a tracker by the name of Nathaniel Hunter is tasked with taking it down before it reaches civilization. http://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3...human-monster/ |

Some Unmade Charles Band Sequels
Bimbo Barbeque
![]() The sequel to Assault of the Killer Bimbos (1988) was teased during Bimbos' end credits. An old Hollywood Reporter article from 1988 said that director Anita Rosenburg was about to start work on the sequel and that she had sent Kathleen Turner the script, "because she said she would like to play a bimbo sometime, but I don't think she will do it." A poster appeared in an old trade magazine. Laserblast II ![]() Band had planned on doing a sequel to Laserblast (1978) around 10-years later in 1986-87. Band's company Empire Pictures was going through financial difficulties around this time, during the production of Robot Jox, and Laserblast II was scrapped. However, plot elements were used for Deadly Weapon (1989). A concept poster was created. Parasite II ![]() A sequel to Parasite (1982) was scrapped after Embassy Pictures folded. According to an early trade poster, Robert Glaudini was set to come back. |

A script for "Gladiator 2" was written by Australian singer/writer Nick Cave after he was approached by Russell Crowe to write it. It never got off the ground.
He said he wanted to call it "Christ Killer" and it featured Maximus (Crowe) resurrected by the Roman gods to kill Jesus and his followers. Apparently Maximus fought alongside many wars throughout history since then, like WWII, and a final scene was to feature him working at the Pentagon. |

Patrick Lussier had wanted to do a theatrical sequel to Dracula 2000 and another direct-to-video one, but they never happened.
He told moviehole.net in 2009, "Joel Soisson and I originally wanted to continue the adventures of Uffizi… and before that, had even discussed a theatrical sequel to Dracula 2000, but none of those came to pass, I’m afraid. But if you want to know what happened next… The Cardinal picks up Luke, forces him back into Transylvania to find Uffizi… only they find Julia, now mistress of the vampire horde. Uffizi’s bugged out on his own quest. Mayhem, of course, would’ve ensued." |
