Herbie Pilato reminisces about meeting Elizabeth Montgomery for his Bewitched book. Some familiar stories, but a nice little interview. He mentions that Liz had not been in contact with any cast members since the show ended (as often happens) including Dick Sargent until his book got them together.

I am really super skeptical about anything that comes out of Hollywood. These authors can take one of two routes, which they always choose from. If they perceive the fan base (the market) wants a worship piece, they write a worship piece about the Hollywood icon they are writing about.
On the other hand, if they think the fan base (the market) wants scandal, than they take that route. And then they exaggerate one or the other. And I'm thinking that Herbie Pilato really went the worship route with this. Especially since he evidently got the blessing from most of the participants. I honestly don't believe eighty percent of what I read about Hollywood. Whether it's straight from their mouths, or in books by other people. It may be a degree of the truth, but never 100 percent of the truth. You have to "read between the lines" and know how Hollywood works to decode it all. And even then, of course, you can't really know for sure what happened. |

It was evidently Elizabeth Montgomery's way of going about personal relationships. She cut off her father. She cut off York. She cut this other producer off and who knows who else. One thing is sure. Don't be on the wrong end of a disagreement with Elizabeth Montgomery. Or the wrong end of a political issue. Or annoy her in any way. She'll cut you off for good. |

Dick York died on Feb 20, 1992. The book was not published until Sept 1, 1992. Dick York could have not been involved with any publicity for the book. Could be why EM chose Dick Sargent. All are dead and we will never know.

![]() ![]() ![]() Pilato said he worked years on his book, he said it was in 1989 when he got Liz, Sargent and David White together, and it makes sense, I mean usually it takes years to publish a book Getting a book published to be sold, it's not something that is done overnight, people who aren't kids knows that. And as you know, from 1989 to 1992 Liz and York could have got together but they didn't, because Liz wanted nothing to do him, but on the other way, she wanted to get in touch again with Sargent, and they remained close friends until Sargent's dead, they even used to have dinners together in the early 90s. And you know why Liz wanted to get together with Sargent and not with York? the answer is simple, Sargent treated her well when they were in Bewitched, but York didn't. |

First of all, I said DY could have not done PUBLICITY for the book. I am well aware that books can take several years to write. Also, since DY and EM were not alive in 1898 I do not think they could have gotten together. Monliz, you should work more on reading others responses and proofreading your own responses instead of name calling.

You were trying to convince us that Liz and York didn't get together because York was dead when the book got published, and that's nonsense, because Liz, Sargent and David White got together for the book in 1989 according to Pilato, and in that year York was still alive. So if Liz and York were such good friends as you're saying, how come Liz never talked to him since he left Bewitched? How come Liz never commented York's death, but she did comment Sargent's dead? The false narrative you're trying to push makes no sense my friend. |

I like DS and have not said nasty things about him. He came into a difficult situation and did the best he could. I actually enjoy some of his episodes. I just enjoy DY years better and the chemistry he and EM had on screen. It was magic. Monliz, you want to quote all these books and whatever else. Most of these books say things to sell the books. Some true, some not and some exaggerated. The publishers are in the business to sell books at any cost. It appears that most people on this board take a lot of this with a grain of salt. DY was human just like EM. Much of what you have quoted/said looks just as bad for EM as DY. In some cases worse. Just enjoy the show. |

The fact that Liz didn't comment York's death, but she did comment Sargent's death, it looks very bad for York, because it means that York has done something very serious to her. After what William Frough said about York staring at Liz all the time, and after the lecherous way York talked about Liz in his book, it's pretty clear what York has done to Liz, and people with common sense understand why Liz wanted York out of her life. |

And as far as EM not mentioning York at his death, but mentioning Sargent at his death, does not prove anything of the sort you are claiming. It could very well indicate that EM was a classless person because she refused to acknowledge a person who had been nothing but classy to her. But she didn't like him, and was prone to having estranged relationships with lots of people. Her father included. You really see things the way you want to see them, don't you? |
