It defintely looks different. But it was 30 years ago. For some reason on the opening credits the building appears to be square shaped but on the pictures it's liked a round shape.

Yeah it seemed a short distance if a cab lets you out now. Back then it seemed like George and Weezie Did a lot of walking to get to the front door

I'll have to watch the first 2 seasons' opening credits more closely. Did Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley really go to NYC to film the opening or did they just edit scenes of NY together with scenes of them riding in a taxi in LA?

James you have to remember that the building probably changed a lot in 31 years. Why wouldn;t you think they were not in NYC?-lol

$$$$- it costs money to fly them out there. Also they could've edited it so that it appears to be in NY. Also in the part where they go into the building the building does look more rectangular than round.
