In "The Hero" Chano shoots and kills two bank robbers. He gets upset about it especially when Lugar tells him he'll probably get a medal for it. Later that day, Barney comes to visit him at his apartment and tells him a story about sperm whales. He asks Chano if he knows why the sperm whale has such a tiny throat. Chano said "Why?" Barney said because that's the way it is. After Barney leaves we see Chano cry. At the end of the episode Chano goes back to work and when someone asks him a question he says "that's the way it is" and makes sure Barney heard him. Also in this episode, Liz makes a citizens arrest of an eight year old who tried to stick her up (literally, he used a stick) in an elavator. He was played by Todd Bridges. Barney, Harris, and a gigolo scare the kid straight.
In "Paternity" Wojo is not the father. He finds out that he is sterile. He's pretty upset and goes after a guy with a gun without calling for backup. Barney yells at him because he could've gotten himself and Dietrich killed. At the end of the episode he goes out with a beauty queen who was in the squadroom because she got mugged.
