Call me a cynic, but isn't the entertainment industry mainly about escapism, about viewing something that you aspire to or confirms you in your belief that your life is going alright? Words put in actors' mouths who probably never could use that vocabulary or had the talent to reach that position in real life. It's why the audience suspends its disbelief for an hour or two to watch the latest Netflix movie, and why it doesn't deep down want the issues of illness or addiction discussed seriously.
