From what I've heard, with any type of innoculation, there is always a certain percentage of the population that will have a bad, sometimes even fatal, reaction. This seems to be the case regardless of whether it is a smallpox vaccine, a flu shot, or whatever. If the decision is made to make the vaccine available to everyone, I think cetain safeguards should be observed:

1. It should be voluntary.
2. Each person should be made fully aware of any potential side effects before they receive the shot.
3. If there is a way to identify individuals who may be at more risk than others to possible side effects - due to age, existing medical conditions, allergies, etc., then by all means these people need to be notified of the chance they are taking with the vaccine..

(By the way, White Daisy, I, and I'm sure others here, would like to hear about your adventures in India sometime!)
The shot should most def. be voluntary, but it wasn't for us. We knew about some risks, but we were supposed to have the shot anyway. I'm sure something must have been done for people who could not take the shot because of health, but since we were healthy, our mom took us for it. By the way, "we" is my brother and me.

As for my "adventures" ( ) in India, ask anything you want, I'd be glad to answer.

To me, Fonzie is what everyone wants to be, Richie is kind of what everyone wants her son to be. And Potsie, I think, is what everyone is
