So I think of it a bit differently on that- this is a high school sitcom- and obviously "Saved By The Bell" kinda set that trend in the '90s- but it had been around for a good while before that- "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" could count toward that trend- probably because it was originally meant to be a series based on Archie Comics and the Riverdale High School gang.
But I love most of these high school sitcoms- so I don't have an issue with it.

I'm with you, I LOVE City Guys and yes, I do not see it as an imitator to Martin, Living Single or The Parkers
Every episode of City Guys was TRULY MUST SEE TV and it taught people like me a lot about life's issues
City Guys took the style from other Peter Engel Shows like Saved by the Bell and California Dreams as well as other shows like The Archies and Happy Days
and I, too LOVE High School Sitcoms
