Season 2, episode 10.. "Ed the Salesman."

carol runs up a huge bill on the phone and wilbur implies that she should pay the phone bill.. that she'd respect the value of a dollar if she were paying the bills. So Carol gets a job as a dance instructor. At the same time, Wilbur has taken the phone out of the barn and Ed desperately wants his phone back, so he too gets a job to pay the bill. Only Ed's job is ON the phone and he is selling real-estate long distance. His first commission check is for $142.00, however, the phone bill is either $140, or $144.

They both quit there jobs and Wilbur re-instates their telephone privileges.

I love mister ed. Things were so "uncomplicated" back then. I hope they never take him off the air, and I pray soon the entire series will be released to DVD.
