I couldn't stand to see the cast that they would use to redo Poltergeist. The original cast was perfect. Heather O'Rourke was cute, sweet, and innocent, something that Carol Anne needed. It added to the horror element, the fact that a young girl who didn't do anything wrong could end up in one of the worst situations.
I know that they used a lot of effects in the original Poltergeist, but they only used what they needed. Topday the whole thing would probably consist of over used and overly emphasized special effects. The thing that is so great about the originals is that they didn't have all the effects and everything so they actually had to think of a scary storyline. They actually had you focusing on what was really going on in the movie rather than who's getting what limb cut off and by what. Today Hollywood's idea of horror is to just make it as gory as possible without any story behind it what so ever.
