I've known so many young women who were so worried that they didn't "have someone" that they got together with the first uhm...gentleman...that paid attention to them, and the results were disastrous. Unplanned and often unwanted children, a dead end, loveless marriage/relationship, financial hardships, alcohol and spousal abuse...all because of being afraid of being alone.
But say something like that in mixed company and you're in for an earful...lol...
