Life after the Facts a Facts of Life Spin-off, Season #1 (1988-1989) #4 “Great Expectations Part 2”

Natalie: You know I’ve been thinking, Mrs. Garrett is to us, and Ketchup is to Mustard.
Tootie: Right, That makes real sense *winks to Nat*
Blair: Let’s just forget it, Mrs. Garrett isn’t coming.
Jo: You can’t just give up, remember that time I wanted to be a Nun, I didn’t give up, but in the end, I did what’s best for me.
Blair: I broke a nail.

(Jo looks at Blair in disbelief)

Blair: Well, It’s a start!
Beverly Ann: You know Edna, wouldn’t let you girls down.
Tootie: Yeah, Mrs. Garrett wouldn’t do a thing like that, would she?
Natalie: Of course not.

(Doorbell rings, Natalie reaches for the door and George and Andy walk inside)

Natalie: George! It’s so good, to see you, where have you been, are you here for Mrs. Garrett’s surprise celebration?
George: Sure, We couldn’t help but notice all of the cars that are parked outside your door; we thought there was a bar mitzvah or something.
Andy: Gee, your hair looks great today!
Blair: Oh sorry, hey Andy, nice to see you again.
Andy: I thought so, I knew someone wouldn’t forget!
Tootie: “Celebrate Good Times, C’mon!”
Jo: Tootie, this isn’t no Disco dance floor, stop acting like you have to be glued to one!

(Car rolls into the drive-way, a silence echoes through the room)

Tootie: Mrs. Garrett is here, girl, I’ll tell you one more time get on the ground!

(Blair turns off the lights; footsteps tap lightly on the drive way, Mrs. Garrett opens the door lightly)

Everybody: SURPRISE!
Mrs. Garrett: Oh my!
Beverly Ann: Edna, It is so good to see you!

(Beverly Ann hugs Mrs. Garrett)

Mrs. Garrett: I never knew there would be so many people, it’s so good to see all of you, wow, look at how you girls have grown!
Blair: How is Africa?
Mrs. Garrett: Fine, Fine, I love it, working with so many people, I’m having a blast just thinking about it.
Jo: How is you leg, are you alright?
Mrs. Garrett: Oh me, I’m doing fine, just fine, I had some surgery but I’m fine.
Natalie: That is so good to know, we were so worried about you we thought you would never make it.
Mrs. Garrett: I was running late, because I have to tell you girls, no I shouldn’t.
Tootie: What?
Mrs. Garrett: Oh no, I couldn’t.
Blair: Go ahead
Mrs. Garrett: Well my husband and I are thinking about adopting an orphan from Africa.
Jo: You aren’t serious, are you?
Natalie: You have to be kidding, how will you manage a child, and your work at the same time, a thing like this could spoil a marriage!

(Mrs. Garrett looks at Natalie with a frown)

Natalie: Boy, look at that time, I’ve gotta go!
