really interesting article. the key to any successful show is the cast. it's one thing trying to create and develop a character for be it a sitcom or drama, but it is also another to find the 'ideal' actor/actress to fill the shoes of their own character. however, it doesn't matter how well known or unfamiliar the name of the person is and with their previous work; rather that he/she is capable and able to successfully play the character so well and to convey his/hers feelings, thoughts, emotions and actions in a way that us viewers makes us want to care for them, love them or even dislike them.

it doesn't matter how good the plot or script is- if the show doesn't have interesting characters and doesn't have the right cast able enough to carry those performances and the show forward, in the way viewers expect, then you could expect the show to be a flop in the end.

having said that, there have been so many shows past and present where the casting was great, and yet it is the material and the lack of laughs it attracts and generates which let the entire project down
