She was originally only signed for 6 episodes, and stayed on because so many fans liked her. Admittedly, the writers probably thought they might - but, still, they couldn't make her *too* 3-dimensional if she was then just going to go away except for some minor references.

If she hadn't been liked by the fans, the writers would have kept her as a co-host with very rare appearances, maybe a few per season, just so they had some way of saying, "Okay, now there is a woman figure who we can say D.J. and later the others go to for puberty and other issues." (As mentioned in the end of "A Little Romance," when D.J. asks if she can come to her for such things.) But, that's about it.

When fans responded so favorably to her, however, they had to work to develop her character more, thus "Baby Love" and the two-parter at the end of season 2.I think they did a good job. Her clashes with Jesse and trying to help him improve made her seem a little mroe squeaky clean than she might because of the juxtaposition. However, I don't think she was shown as flawless or anything. I think we need to look at the positives of characters, though, and what makes us feel good about them. And, she had a lot that attracted myself and other fans.

Not only that, but I wonder if, in some small way, Jesse clung to her because there was a part of her that reminded him of Pam.
