Gale was brilliant, there is no way around that. Just like vivian, when he played a scene. Like Lucy said about Vivan "she played everything with such truth." IMO, same applies to Gale, watch him, I can't really put it into words, but watch him and you'll see it.
Lucy was very fortunate to work with both Viv and Gale. Then again, they were both damn fortunate to work with Lucille Ball.
