Francis is a character who throughout the series of Malcolm in the Middle grows quite a bit. In fact, he seems to be the one who changes the most over the course of the 5 primary seasons in which he appears (I just pretend the scenes of him in Seasons 6 & 7 didn't happen, since they deeply betray Francis' arc). He becomes mora mature, hardworking, and just overall becomes a better person. Many people in the community though debate why this occurred, and who it was that mostly pushed Francis to become his best self (aka they debate who his best father figure is).

However, he really doesn't see that growth until about season 4 & 5. Which is when he starts working at The Ranch. So it should obviously be Otto then that is his most important father figure, right? Well, personally I don't think so. It seems to me that there was a complex set of facts that led Francis to becoming who he is, and ultimately if you remove any underlying piece, I think it would make it so Francis doesn't quite get to where we want him to be.

So, join me today as we talk about Lois', Piama's, Hal's, Otto's, and Gretchen's influence on Francis. What do you think the answer to the question here is? Let me know down below, and don't forget to subscribe!

13:32 — Millennials Didn’t Become Malcolm

17:39 — Why Hal Became the Most Honest TV Dad

But before Breaking Bad, Cranston gave us Hal Wilkerson on Malcolm in the Middle. And on adult rewatch, Hal might be the more relatable performance.

As kids, we watched Malcolm in the Middle for the chaos: Lois yelling, the boys destroying the house, Dewey being forgotten in the corner, and Hal spiraling into whatever ridiculous obsession took over his week. But as adults, Hal looks different. He isn’t just the goofy sitcom dad. He is burnout with a smile. He is panic turned into dancing, fear turned into hobbies, and fatherhood held together by pure emotional availability.

This video breaks down why Hal Wilkerson became one of the most honest TV dads ever created — and why so many millennials grew up thinking they were Malcolm, only to realize they became Hal.

We’ll look at Bryan Cranston’s physical comedy, Hal’s famous roller skating episode, the Career Day breakdown, his relationship with Lois, the show’s portrayal of money pressure and family chaos, and why Hal’s panic feels even more real today than Walter White’s control fantasy.

Malcolm in the Middle was always funny. But Hal Wilkerson was never just a joke.

He was the adult truth hiding inside the sitcom.

This video has been one I had thought about for a while, because I find it very interesting that even though Cynthia only appears in a few episodes she seems to be one of the most heavily discussed in the community. So I wanted to discuss my thoughts on why the community seems to like Cynthia so much, and touch on some of the elements of who her character is and what she does in the little time we spend with her. To understand why the audience thinks about Cynthia so much we just need to look at her character and how she is utilized, as well as how she isn't.

So join us as we discuss everything from Cynthia's first episode in season 2 entitled "Krelboyne Girl", as well as her last episode season 4's "Humilithon", and everything else in between. Hopefully by the end we learn a bit about Malcolm and the community that surrounds the show! What do you guys think? If you like Cynthia, what is your reasoning? Also what is your favorite episode that we discuss today? Let me know down below, and I'll be seeing you guys soon with the next video!
