As a TV fanatic, I will absolutely die on the hill that shortening the average TV show season from 22 episodes to 9 has essentially destroyed television. Binge watching can definitely be fun, but in my opinion, the real art of character development — and, most importantly, getting your audience to actually care about your characters — rests in tension and buildup. AKA, it requires time. Cramming what used to be an entire calendar year's worth of storytelling into a single day's binge just breaks.

Netflix frequently releases documentaries on cruise ship disasters because they consistently top viewership charts by capitalizing on the viral true-crime formula, high-stakes human drama, and widespread curiosity regarding a massive, highly profitable global industry. Recent releases like Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea (detailing the 2012 Costa Concordia sinking) and Trainwreck: Poop Cruise (covering the 2013 Carnival Triumph breakdown) quickly dominated Netflix's Top 10 lists by transforming real-world catastrophic events into highly consumable, algorithmic "popcorn television".

Netflix executives are currently exploring the addition of genre-specific live TV channels and the integration of third-party streaming services (like Peacock) into bundles. This strategic shift aims to reverse slumping user engagement and prevent subscribers from canceling between hit show seasons.

Disney is actively exploring a completely free, ad-supported tier for Disney+. The concept was recently discussed by the platform's product and tech chief, Adam Smith, during an internal town hall. The strategy is being considered to compete with free streaming giants like YouTube and Tubi, which continue to capture a larger share of TV viewing time. No specific timeline or details regarding which shows and movies would be included have been announced. If implemented, this would set Disney+ apart from competitors like Netflix, which currently do not offer a free, ad-supported plan.

As for me, I think I'm mostly done buying DVD's of favorite classic TV shows, but having said that, there's a few things still on my want list that I would buy if they were made available on DVD:

Tom Ewell Show- one season sitcom from 1960-61.

Cara Williams Show- one season sitcom from 1964-65.

Burke's Law season 2, along with the follow up series Amos Burke, Secret Agent. There's also the Burke's Law reboot series from the 1990's but I wouldn't be interested in having that.

Please Don't Eat The Daisies- 2 season sitcom from the mid 1960's.

That's Life- 1968-69 musical/comedy series with Robert Morse and EJ Peaker. Music rights issues would probably make a home video release of the series nearly impossible.

Arnie- 2 season sitcom from 1970-72.

Forever Fernwood- 1977-78 continuation of the Mary Hartman series without Louise Lasser.

As far as reissues go, I wouldn't mind having a DVD reissue of Barnaby Jones complete series, and this time with all complete, unedited episodes. The set that was released several years ago is pretty much a mess with mostly edited for syndication versions of the episodes.
