Fox’s stellar 2026 World Cup coverage could be its last because its current exclusive U.S. English-language rights contract expires at the end of the tournament. Industry experts suggest that the next bidding war will likely shatter records, with deep-pocketed streamers and traditional networks heavily vying for the rights. The 2026 tournament on home soil was secured by Fox in a no-bid settlement after FIFA controversially shifted the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to the winter, which disrupted Fox's fall sports schedule. Because Fox essentially received an extension for the 2026 edition, it paid a heavily discounted rate—estimated at roughly $485 million. Experts believe true market value could push well past $1 billion for future tournaments.

The long-awaited reunion (about 16 hours) of brothers Liam and Markus Ruck came on Saturday during the second round of the 2026 Upper Deck NHL Draft, when the Pittsburgh Penguins pulled Markus off the board, after selecting Liam in the first round Friday.

They're the highest drafted twins since the Vancouver Canucks selected Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin with the No. 2 and No. 3 pick, respectively, of the 1999 NHL Draft.<<<
“Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital,” Miller wrote on Twitter this morning. “I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this. As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time. Thank you for the overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages — they have meant so much to me and my family during this time. I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.” KOAM News reports Miller was driving a 2023 Bronco last Wednesday when his car crossed the center line and collided with a semi-truck on Missouri Route 96. The other driver wasn’t injured. In a statement, ESPN said: “ESPN’s thoughts are with Matt Miller & his loved ones. We wish him strength in his recovery & look forward to seeing him back at ESPN when he’s ready.” According to Awful Announcing, Miller, who was hired by ESPN in 2021, “is a year-round draft analyst and has been widely viewed as the heir apparent to Mel Kiper, although he never views it that way.”

In "The Scandal That Almost Destroyed the NHL" we tell the story of Alan Eagleson, the powerful lawyer, player agent, and NHL Players’ Association leader whose influence helped shape modern hockey, and whose actions nearly tore the league apart.

Unlike the players he represented, Eagleson wasn’t known for what he did on the ice, but for the control he had behind the scenes. He positioned himself as the voice of the players, negotiating deals, managing careers, and becoming one of the most powerful figures in hockey.

But behind the image of a trusted advocate, a very different reality was unfolding.

Accusations of fraud, conflicts of interest, and the misuse of players’ pension funds began to surface. As investigations deepened, it became clear that Eagleson had used his position for personal gain while the players he claimed to protect were left in the dark. The fallout would shake the NHLPA, damage trust across the league, and expose one of the darkest chapters in hockey history.

By the time the truth came out, the damage was already done. Eagleson was disbarred, removed from power, and eventually convicted, leaving behind a legacy defined by betrayal rather than leadership.

This is the story of how one man’s rise inside the NHL almost brought the entire system down with him.

Former hockey agent and lawyer Alan Eagleson is one of the most disgraced Canadians to have ever been involved with the sport. His downfall and condemnation were so spectacular that they make Lance Armstrong look like a saint by comparison. In his heyday, Eagleson was head of the National Hockey League Players' Association from 1967 to 1992, oversaw the iconic 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the USSR, and was a prominent member of Ontario's Progressive Conservative Party and its "Big Blue Machine" that dominated Ontario provincial politics for much of the 1970s and 1980s. In short, he was a titan of both Canadian hockey and Ontario politics. Come the 1990s, Eagleson was revealed to have been grossly corrupt, embezzling money out of everything, from the NHLPA's general revenues to players' disability and pension payments. The fallout was catastrophic: Eagleson was fined $700,000 and served six months in prison on the charges that U.S. and Canadian prosecutors were able to make stick. He was able to dodge many of them through his political connections, including 34 counts of racketeering, embezzlement, obstruction of justice, and fraud in the United States, where he managed to avoid being extradited until 1997. He was also disbarred by the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario legal bar, unable to ever practice law again. Worse, his name became radioactive in the hockey community and Canadian society in general. He forfeited his membership in the Order of Canada, was forced to resign from the Hockey Hall of Fame after 19 players publicly threatened to resign from the Hall themselves if Eagleson himself was allowed to remain in it, and widely shunned by the Ontario high society that used to embrace him to the point where his wife couldn't even rent a one-bedroom coach house. He has since become a pariah in the hockey world where he was once nearly royalty.

The Colorado Rockies are one of the most forgotten franchises in NHL history, and their story deserves to be told. In Part 1 of this brand-new series, we're diving deep into the rise and fall of the NHL's Colorado Rockies, a franchise that burned bright, collapsed fast, and left behind one of hockey's most fascinating and heartbreaking legacies.

How did a professional NHL team end up in Colorado, and why did it all fall apart so embarrassingly? The story of the Colorado Rockies is one of mismanagement, missed opportunities, and a fanbase that never got the hockey team it truly deserved. This is NHL history that most fans have never heard, and it will completely change the way you look at the modern league.
Whether you're a die-hard hockey historian, a casual fan discovering the NHL's hidden past, or simply someone who loves a great sports story, this series is going to hook you from the very first episode.

We explore the short-lived era of the Kansas City Scouts, the transition to the Colorado Rockies, and the eventual birth of a dynasty: the New Jersey Devils. Long before the Avalanche brought championships to Denver, the Colorado Rockies fought a desperate battle for survival in the Rocky Mountains.

In this video, we explore the Colorado Rockies. You will understand the real story behind this short-lived Denver franchise, based on factual events.

In this video you will discover:
• The team's evolution from the Kansas City Scouts and their struggle to find stability in Colorado.
• The impact of colorful figures like coach Don Cherry and legendary player Lanny McDonald.
• How the franchise eventually relocated to become the New Jersey Devils after years of management turnover.

While their time in Denver was brief, the Rockies' iconic mountain branding left a permanent mark on the city's sports culture that is still celebrated by hockey fans today.

This includes places like the Kingdome, Pontiac Silverdome, Alamodome, Charlotte Coliseum, The Omni, Meadowlands Arena, ARCO Arena, and more.
TFC Stadiums explores the architectural and logistical challenges faced by historic NBA venues. The analysis examines how multi-purpose stadium experiments, suburban locations, and outdated designs impacted the professional basketball experience, contrasting the limitations of these iconic structures with the intense atmospheres created by dedicated fanbases.

Today on TFC Stadiums, we’re looking at some of the strangest NHL arenas of all time.

From the Arizona Coyotes playing inside Arizona State’s Mullett Arena, to the New York Islanders’ awkward years at Barclays Center, to the Tampa Bay Lightning playing NHL hockey inside a baseball dome, the league has had some very unusual arena chapters.

Some of these buildings were too small. Others were built for basketball, baseball, livestock shows, or anything except NHL hockey. And while a few became loved by fans, others became examples of why arena design matters so much in hockey.

In this video, we look at the NHL’s weirdest arena homes, including Mullett Arena, Barclays Center, America West Arena, Delta Center, the Cow Palace, Expo Hall, the ThunderDome, Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, Boston Garden, and Madison Square Garden.

TFC Stadiums explores the architectural quirks and unconventional history of various NHL venues. From repurposing livestock pavilions and baseball domes to managing challenging sightlines in multi-sport facilities, this analysis highlights the most distinctive and improvised homes in league history.
