In this action-packed panel, our favorite Rangers look back on decades of defending the grid. The cast shares unbelievable behind-the-scenes stories about filming the iconic martial arts stunts, reacting to those famous monster costumes, and what it was like working on the sets of one of the biggest pop-culture phenomena of the '90s and beyond. Whether you grew up shouting "Go Go Power Rangers" or you're a fan of the modern comic runs, this panel is a massive treat for the entire Ranger Nation!

Being the Red Ranger was supposed to be the golden ticket. You're the leader, you're the face, you're the one on the birthday cake. So what actually happened to all of them? The answer is the wildest spread of outcomes in television. One Red Ranger is in Marvel's Jessica Jones and the new Planet of the Apes. One became an award-winning film director whose movies sweep festivals. One became a lawyer. One a paramedic. And one went to prison for killing a man. Every Red. Thirty years. Told properly, in order, with nothing skipped.

We're also doing something a bit mad: 30 videos in 30 days, chasing 2,500 subscribers. If you want in on that ride, subscribing genuinely helps more than you'd think.

A note on the hard parts of this one. This video covers a real criminal case: in 2015 Ricardo Medina Jr. killed his roommate, Joshua Sutter, and in 2017 he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to six years. We report that factually and without theories, drama-channel spin or a single frame of action footage, because leaving it out would be lying by omission. A man died and his family lost him, and that is treated as the center of it. The video also touches, briefly and with care, on the losses of Pua Magasiva in 2019 and Jason David Frank in 2022; both are told fully in our Cast Members We've Lost video. If any of this lands close to home, please talk to someone — in Australia, Lifeline is 13 11 14; in the US, call or text 988; in the UK, Samaritans is 116 123. Wherever you are, there's a line.

CHAPTERS

0:00 "It's Morphin Time" — where all of this started

1:17 The Nineties Reds: St. John, Cardenas, Frank, Ward, Slavin

The most beloved hero in Power Rangers history was introduced as a weapon. Before the White light, before thirty years of legend, Tommy Oliver was a brainwashed teenager who nearly killed five other teenagers — and here's the uncomfortable bit nobody says out loud: as a villain, he was better at the job than anyone who came after him. So today we replay the most famous five episodes in franchise history from inside the helmet. Green with Evil, through Tommy's eyes. It's darker in there than you remember.

CANON IS LABELLED AS CANON;
INTERPRETATION IS LABELLED AS INTERPRETATION.

Everything that happened on screen is stated as fact. Everything that's our reading of it — why Rita picked him, what the guilt did to him, why we all wanted to be the villain — is called a labelled reading or a labelled theory, out loud, in the video. That's the standing rule on this channel.

We're also doing something a bit mad: 30 videos in 30 days, chasing 2,500 subscribers. If you want in on that ride, subscribing genuinely helps more than you'd think.

A note on Jason David Frank: this video is about the CHARACTER, and it touches only briefly and with care on the man who played him and the loss of him in 2022. His full story is told properly in our cast videos. If any of this lands close to home, please talk to someone.

CHAPTERS

0:00 Introduced as a Weapon

0:59 Day One — The New Kid in Angel Grove

1:26 Rita's Masterstroke — She Picked the Isolated One

1:56 The Spell — He Never Said Yes

2:11 The Scoreboard — Evil Tommy Kept Winning

2:55 Rita's Single Best Move

3:13 A Passenger in His Own Body

3:28 The Sword of Darkness Breaks

3:36 "It Wasn't You" — The Team Takes Him In

3:57 The Most Radical Thing Early Power Rangers Ever Did

4:23 The Guilt That Lasted Decades — Green Candle to Dino Thunder

4:58 Why Every Kid in 1993 Wanted to Be the Villain

5:25 The Thesis — Redemption Outsells Purity

6:07 The Pattern Tommy Started — Astronema and After

6:32 One Road, Built in 1993

6:45 Tommy Through His Own Eyes

7:05 The Man Who Played Him

7:16 Tribe Thought — You Are What You Do After

7:39 The One Thing I Can't Answer

7:49 Green or White? Your Turn

8:01 What's Next

8:14 Outro

COMMENTS. The eternal one: Green or White? Wrong answers welcome, it's Green. And the harder one — does the show let Tommy off too easily, or is instant forgiveness the whole point? Best-argued answer on either side gets pinned.

Aisha Campbell landed in Africa with one job: find the last piece of the Zeo Crystal and get home. She never came back.

But here's what almost everyone gets wrong about that episode. Aisha wasn't written out, and she wasn't disposed of. She chose, on screen, and she sent Tanya back in her place herself. And when the team finally lined up for their Zeo powers, there was a problem nobody talks about: the crystal has five subdivisions, and there were six Rangers standing there.

So what actually happens if Aisha says no, and comes home?

Somebody still gives up their powers. That's the part the what-if can't fix.
In 1996, in the middle of shooting Power Rangers Zeo, David Yost walked off the set and never came back.

He was the last of the original five still on the show. He'd been credited in every episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. And then he was gone — with shooting days still booked.

Two weeks later, the show aired Billy Cranston's goodbye. Yost didn't shoot a frame of it. The Billy on screen is an older actor. Billy's last message home is recycled footage with somebody else's voice over the top — and nobody knows whose. His name stayed in the credits for the rest of the season, on episodes he isn't in.

He says he didn't find out how they'd written Billy out until years later.

This is the story of why he walked, what he says was happening, what a producer said instead — and the 27 years it took him to come back and put the suit on himself.

⚠️ A note on how this video is made: David Yost is a living person, and much of what's online about him is louder than what he actually said. Every claim about his experience is attributed to him. Nobody is named as a perpetrator, because in sixteen years nobody ever has been — not by Yost, not by any journalist. The producer who publicly disagreed with him is in the video too. Sources are listed below.

Sources: The Hollywood Reporter (David Yost's own guest column, 2017) · The Advocate (2013, 2010) · Panhandle PBS (2016) · Forbes (2023) · TMZ (2010, 2013) · No Pink Spandex (2010) · Entertainment Weekly · RangerWiki · Wikipedia
Power Rangers RPM is the darkest season the franchise ever made. The world has already fallen, humanity is down to one domed city, and most of the team never chose to be there.

So: send one original Ranger through the door. One trip, one way, no coming home. Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, Kimberly — and Tommy, who gets in on merit even though he isn't an original.

Every candidate gets tested on what's actually on screen, failures included. A test you can only pass isn't a test. By the end I give you one name, and it's probably not the one you're about to type.

⚠️ On canon: RPM is a separate dimension — that's official, from the Samurai crossover in 2011. I don't pretend otherwise. The video uses the Transportal Device as the way in and is open about the one thing it invents.

Everything here is graded on TELEVISION. If your answer is the BOOM! Studios comics — Lord Drakkon, the world of the Coinless — I address that directly, and it's a different video.

DISAGREE? Don't just give me a name. Give me the episode. Which single moment proves your pick could hold that team together? Best receipt wins, and if you change my mind I'll say so on camera.

CHAPTERS

0:00 The door, and tonight's game
