For Sears the 1990's was their strongest time for sales and they continued to be the top department store chain second to JCPenney but that all changed beginning in 1994 when Sears announced a new image and to go along with with this new image new commercials as well as a new slogan/jingle for Sears would debut. The new slogan/jingle was titled Come See The Softer Side Of Sears and the new commercials debuted in the fall of 1994. When you first see these commercials you can see how 90's looking they were and you could tell that Sears really put a lot of effort into designing these commercials and there are many variants of these commercials and during the 1994 Holiday Season there were also Christmas commercials with a Christmas version of the slogan/jingle titled Come See The Merry Side Of Sears with merry replacing softer. Also during this new image Sears stores were given a renovation to appeal to the 90's generation with interesting grand reopenings filled with sweepstakes contests and in some renovated Sears stores various celebrities would appear for meet and greets with shoppers. Sears retired Come See The Softer Side Of Sears as it's slogan in 1997 but these Sears commercials are classic 90's nostalgia for anyone who remembers this image of Sears and how well it improved the store chain very well

If you were a watcher of The ABC Weekend Special in the 1980's chances are you might remember Willie Tyler and his puppet friend Lester. In 1988 Willie Tyler and Lester appeared in a commercial for Rent-A Center and the commercial featured Willie Tyler and Lester trying to rent new furniture from Rent-A Center and this commercial is so funny. This was the only Rent-A Center commercial Willie Tyler and Lester appeared in but they made this commercial a fun treat to see. My parents tried out Rent-A Center once when I was a baby when they tried to rent a television and it never worked but that was the only time my parents tried out Rent-A Center. I wonder what happened to Willie Tyler and Lester and what's the story behind this commercial?

I have never figured out why these commercials were such a hit? But beginning in 1996 Drano launched a series of commercials introducing a clever slogan which was "Go With The Flow." The commercials began with music that kind of sounds like The Chantays hit song Pipeline and a guy talking about how Drano gets the job done. I always thought these Drano commercials were weird but with every version that Drano released the commercials became even more clever. These commercials quit airing in 2002 but why Drano came up with these commercials i'll never know

The year was 1992 and the new year had just begun and the Winter Olympics was the talk of the town and had many sponsors doing special promotions. One sponsor was Campbell's Soup and in 1992 to mark the 1992 Winter Olympics Campbell's Soup launched a commercial that featured top Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. The commercial begins with Nancy doing a wonderful skating routine then takes a break with a bowl of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup and talks about how soup is a wonderful meal for sports stars to give them energy. Then Nancy Kerrigan tries her hand at playing hockey then the commercial ends with Campbell's 90's slogan "Never Underestimate The Power Of Soup". Campbell's Soup later did another commercial that this time featured Michelle Kwan and Nicole Bobek for the 1998 Winter Olympics. Campbell's Soup has always been a big sponsor of the Olympics and it's easy to see why they choose top athletes and ice skaters because they know if a ice skater wins a gold medal that alone can get them commercial stardom. And it must've worked magic for Nancy Kerrigan

The San Francisco 49ers is one of the top teams in the NFL. In the 1980's Safeway began airing a commercial for a special San Francisco 49ers promotion. This commercial possibly aired in Northern California TV stations in 1983. Safeway sponsored a special contest in which you got a game piece with any Safeway purchase of groceries and if The San Francisco 49ers won an NFL football game during the 1983 NFL season and if the score on the game matched the score on the game piece you could win many prizes including the grand prize of tickets to the 1984 Super Bowl. It's no secret why Safeway still does many sweepstakes devoted to football and is still today the number one store for Super Bowl party snacks and Safeway still does Super Bowl sweepstakes today

In 1985 Bonnie Tyler performed her own version of the Folgers jingle/slogan in a commercial. While Bonnie herself doesn't appear anywhere in this commercial she brings new life to the iconic Folgers Coffee jingle and the way she sings it I think Bonnie Tyler hit a home run. With the passing of Bonnie Tyler Folgers Coffee should reair this commercial as a tribute to Bonnie

"Tato Skins got baked potato appeal"
"Cause their baked with potatoes and skins that are real"
Such an interesting jingle don't you think?
In 1985 Keebler launched Tato Skins which were a unique kind of potato chips and to honor it's launch a clever commercial was made beginning with the opening jingle that's at the beginning of this topic's thread. Tato Skins came in different flavors including original sour cream and chives cheddar cheese and bacon and later barbecue flavor was added. This debut commercial for Tato Skins was the first version and then in 1989-1990 a country styled version of the jingle was featured in a second version with animation of the Keebler Elves was added. Despite a huge seller Keebler Tato Skins were discontinued in 1992 but this was a smart innovention in snack foods of the 80's. I always thought of Keebler as a cookie and cracker company and it is really a shame that Keebler hasn't returned to make potato chips anymore because with clever foods like Tato Skins I bet Keebler could return to the chips audience

You may remember Marion Ross as Mrs. Cunningham "Mrs. C" from Happy Days but what few people never knew about Marion Ross was that she was a commercial actress and spokeswoman. After appearing in her lone commercial for Mr. Clean in the 70's Marion Ross became the spokeswoman for Seneca Apple Juice and beginning in 1980 Marion did her first Seneca Apple Juice commercial. When the commercial begins we see Marion Ross talking about how Seneca Apple Juice is healthy and delicious for every member of the family then the commercial ends with a still shot of the Seneca Apple Juice can with a cute jingle and slogan. I don't know how Seneca Apple Juice chose Marion Ross as their spokeswoman but she did an excellent job in this commercial. I too have drank Seneca Apple Juice myself and it is delicious and I believe Seneca Apple Juice is still on the market today but it has a unique history because it was made in Washington like Tree Top Apple Juice is

It used to be in commercials 4th Of July was the second most promoted holiday next to Memorial Day and when you look through the telescope the only 4th Of July commercials this year were for 4th Of July sales on cars and it tells me that car dealerships sell a lot of vehicles during 4th Of July

If you grew up in the 70's you probably listened to The Steve Miller Band a lot and the song you probably had a record of was Fly Like An Eagle. In 1998 United States Postal Service began using Fly Like An Eagle as their anthem/slogan and I don't know why United States Postal Service started to use this iconic Steve Miller song? But it fit the commercials like a glove because after all the mascot of United States Postal Service is an eagle. This slogan was used until 2001 but it was a change from the famous "We Deliver For You" jingle/slogan that was used in the 80's. The idea to use this song probably came from Space Jam after Seal's version of Fly Like An Eagle became a classic in the movie and United States Postal Service should've used Seal's version for the commercials rather than the Steve Miller version
