View Full Version : Does Unpopular in Syndication also mean the Sitcom won't be pulled off the shelf if
TVFactFan 02-17-2004, 10:19 PM it was on DVD? I think a Sitcom like Maude may have some trouble generating sales since it was not watch that often in syndication. Which brings me to my next two questions
How did Barney Miller do in syndication?
Is the DVD selling in the Stores?
barwars 02-18-2004, 01:14 PM I think shows that ARENT in syndication will sell better when released on DVD.
(unless its something like "That's My Mama" puke: )

THat's My Mama may sell if it was on the shelf. Can't wait to see it in another week.
barwars 02-18-2004, 08:47 PM That's My Mama....
I suppose so.
If there was good advertising.
People who remember it from the original run would probably want to check it out.
But Maude.... im sure it would sell very well.
(just as good as All in the Family, IMO)
Brian Damage 02-18-2004, 08:52 PM They put the short lived sitcom My Big Fat Greek Life on DVD so I doubt it has to be popular.

I think it's odd that it's not already out on DVD since it was the first AITF spinoff-LOL Jeffersons didn't come out until 75 but has two seasons released already.
barwars 02-18-2004, 11:21 PM Easy....
The Jeffersons is better than Maude plan and simple.
More viewers, (I think more awards), and MUCH more well known.
barwars 02-18-2004, 11:23 PM Actually.... Im really suprised Maude hasn't made its way to DVD.
Its the only one of the "Norman Lear 5" (Sanford & Son, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Maude) than isnt on DVD.
But unfortunately.... The Jeffersons and All in the Family have been completely forgotten about.

But Maude was Edith's Cousin-LOL Maude's connection to All in the Family is stronger than the Jeffersons.
barwars 02-18-2004, 11:32 PM So....
thats like saying "Joanie Loves Chachi" is better than "Laverne & Shirley" and/or "Mork & Mindy" just because Chachi is Fonzie's Cousin.
