What do all of you think about Maude coming out on DVD? Do you think it help any with the Maude pilot episode and the cousin Maude episode part of the all in the family season 2 dvd set?? Did anyone buy the all in the family dvd set for the 2 Maude episodes?? I know i did :)


I also think if the all in the family season 2 dvd set did good in sales that would be a + for Maude coming out on DVD:happyface

I don't think a Maude DVD would generate sales. I just can't see people buying because it was rarely watched in syndication.

I'd buy it and I have 130 episodes of it. I think it would do well - I get a lot of emails about the Maude tapes I have, requests and stuff. You never know.

Really? I just can't see people buying that show in Best Buy. And I'm not saying that because I donb't like the show, but i just can't see it selling.

A lot of the people who email me are people my age (30's) who are fans of other older shows (WKRP, Jeffersons, All In The Family). I really think if it was available on DVD people would buy it.

No, I paid over $100 for them but I don't charge that much.

I just got my Maude tapes from her and they are fantastic. I'm very pleased with the quality of the tapes.

She is a wonderful seller/trader, I find her prices are extremely fair and I highly recommend her. :)

Just because a show is not widely syndicated doesn't always mean it will
not sell well on DVD. Look at Good Times or What's Happening. Neither were big hits in syndication, but I've seen DVD box sets of both.

Also, look at it another way. Perhaps fans of a show are more likely to buy it on DVD when they can't turn on their televisions and see it for free.

I have all the episodes of Maude on tape, but I would gladly pay for the high quality and no editing that DVD offers.

Yes they are.

I think that if Maude was to be released on DVD, that the show would do very well in sales; I just think people are interested in shows from that particular era and besides that it was a great show and Bea Arthur does have a large fan base..I know if a Maude DVD is released I am going to buy it....:)

They just came out with Reba on DVD, so don't tell me someone wouldn't buy Maude. There are so many crappy TV series on DVD, and people still buy them.

Maude is one of the classic TV series of the 1970's. They are not making any money just letting it sit on the shelf.

Amen to that. I'd love to see all the episodes from Maude again(AND own them!). Plus the fact that it can't be seen ANYWHERE on TV at all might generate people to buy it since it's a "rare" item. My fingers stay crossed . . .

When you say the picture quality was horrble on the DVD what do you mean?

The DVD picture quality is not as good as when viewed on TV or from VHS tapes. For example, I have a few episodes on Columbia House VHS tapes from the '90s and of course my new DVD's. There's a noticable difference in the picture quality of the same episodes. The DVD's look flat, scratchy and a little out of focus. I understand that if the source material is from video tape (as was the case with the Norman Lear shows), the DVD transfers will not be too hot. I would think they could have spent a little more time and money in trying to digitally enhance the masters.

I've always wanted to see this show. I hope they release it on dvd soon.

My guess is that they will realease Maude soon. With the exception of One Day at a Time, Maude is the only 1970s primetime Norman Lear sitcom to not already be on DVD or coming to DVD (Chico and the Man is coming in the Spring of 2005). Although I cannot understand why they have not already released it, I am sure that it will be released in the near future.

besides Bea and Rue, I'd also like to see Florida before she went to Good Times and also see Conrad Bain before he did Diff'rent Strokes (I've never seen him play anyone besides Phillip Drummond).

I am shocked Sony hasn't considered this, I think it'll sell very well considering the combined popularity of The Golden Girls and Good Times.

I will buy still Maude and ODDAT on DVD and ditch my VHS tapes from Comcast. I hope both shows will be released in the near future.

If you have all the Maude eps from Season 1 recorded from Comcast then you wouldn't need to buy the DVD because it would be the same versions

I know it, but I support the title if I buy Season 1. Seasons 3-6 weren't shown on Comcast. DVD may be the only way to get them!
