Kay Scarpetta 02-17-2004, 07:17 PM Before you do that, I'd remember or write down all your user names/passwords that you have stored. Once you block or clear cookies, you have to resign into everything. .simpson_10. 02-17-2004, 07:18 PM Originally posted by AKA If you have the latest version of Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > Privacy Then scroll the bar up to "Block All Cookies." i have aol so i dont use internet explorer Simpson .simpson_10. 02-17-2004, 07:21 PM does anyone know how to do it on aol? Simpson AKA 02-17-2004, 07:25 PM I used to be an AOL employee, but I don't have it at home, so I'm not sure. Try going to KW: cookies or KW: security for instructions. .simpson_10. 02-18-2004, 04:28 PM it doesnt tell me how to block them! Kazza 02-18-2004, 10:10 PM I don't think you can do it on AOL perse but on Windows(if you have that system). Go to CONTROL PANEL- Network and Internet connections- Internet Options..there the cookies and files are stored. If you delete them you have to sign on everywhere with your sn and passwords all over. When you get to the INTERNET OPTIONS there is a PRIVACY tag; click there for the level of blockage you want robyrob 02-18-2004, 11:36 PM Originally posted by .simpson_10. it doesnt tell me how to block them! just use Spybot Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/ open it in advanced mode, run a scan ("check for problems") but DONT fix yet - click on the "Excludes" section on the Menu bar on the left, then the "cookies" section, You now have a list of all the cookies in your system, put a checkmark in all the ones you want to keep (like roby@www.sitcomsonline for example), then go back to the Spybot tab and NOW click on the "select all items" and "fix selected problems" after you have cleaned out the ones you dont want NOW block them in IE, or AOL in AOL 8: 1. Click on the Settings button on the AOL tool bar. 2. Pull down and select Preferences in the menu. 3. Click on Internet Properties (WWW) under the "Organization" column. 4. Select the Privacy Tab of the Internet Options menu. 5. Select the Advanced... button at the bottom of the screen. 6. Select override automatic cookie handling button. 7. To block first party cookies select block under "First-party cookies". 8. To block third party cookies select block under "Third-party cookies". 9. Select "always allow session cookies". 10. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen. robyrob 02-18-2004, 11:38 PM to block cookies in other versions of AOL (or anything else) check this site for help: http://privacy.getnetwise.org/videotutorials/ robyrob 02-19-2004, 08:25 AM Originally posted by .simpson_10. some people i know can block cookies on their pc how can i do this? if u need a fire wall or anything i have norton sytem works and their firewall! Thanks Simpson why exactly do you want to block cookies ? EricIdlefan 02-19-2004, 03:23 PM Blocking cookes is something new to me as well!! Like stuff that kids shouldn't be downloading like porn?? I have MSN and there are a lot of sites that won't take MSN because they say that it is a free of charge website as well as hotmail, also subscribed too!! robyrob 02-19-2004, 11:48 PM cookies are just text files that websites use to remember you and your settings by - they are just plain text files that get stored on your computer the Sitcoms Online website, for example would use a cookie to let you sign in automatically whenever you come back to the site, so you don't have to log in every time the downside is that cookies can be misused to track which websites you surf to, which is why some programs like Spybot, AdAware and others scan for and remove those tracking cookies... |
