View Full Version : Bad Trading Sticky Post ideas
Agent 13 02-16-2004, 04:57 PM Everyone:
I would like to eventually implement a bad trader's sticky post so that there'll be no doubt as to how to post your bad trading experiences without legally endangering this great trading site as well as riling up the moderators to the point where you get banned.
If you have any suggestions for such a thing, such a guidelines to go by, etc., please post them here. Hopefully we'll be able to come to a compromise to help make trading safer for everyone, my primary goal.
By the way, this idea is in its infancy. It may take lots of fine tuning before a post like this will even be allowed.
Here's hoping...

funky-rat 02-16-2004, 05:07 PM Good idea!
I personally would list all their aliases, and list the number of complaints, and if possible, the complaint istelf (slow ship, poor quality) because just "bad" doesn't quite say it enough - it's to vague.
Treat it kind of like ebay feedback. That gives you the number of bads, and what went bad. Sometimes it's misunderstanding. Also, perhaps it would be good to have the posts go through a mod rather than just put up by people so someone can see if it's a reasonable complaint, or revenge, or someone bs'ing using multiple identities. Also have the person making the complaint supply some sort of evidence (e-mails, etc.)
Just my two cents.
Beavis 02-16-2004, 05:22 PM Definiately if you see on other boards the same person using different usernames and e-mail accounts, with the same want/have list(s) THAT should be a RED FLAG right there... Stay clear of those posters...
Brian Damage 02-16-2004, 05:22 PM This is tricky because like funky-rat said, some people might use it for revenge or someone might create a second identity(like fastlane chick1980, tvluver and TruDusku did) and try to hype themself up. Everything should be filtered out to you first. That way you can decifer what is true, and what could be a load of crap. Maybe implement a two strike and your out rule. Someone who has more than two seperate complaints against them be put on a warning list as for someone to watch out for. I like the idea of an ebay type of feedback list though.
Shanghai Pierce 02-16-2004, 08:21 PM I would have 2 sticky posts, one for good traders and one for bad. Especially for newbies to the board.
I'm no veteran around here, but my first post here asking for diff'rent strokes episodes got 2 replies initially, one from DeWayne Guthrie and the other from Pam Maples, both bad traders, and thanks for y2joker, I was able to avoid trading with these a-holes before I got screwed too.
I'd have the thread just name names, aliases, email addresses and location and a brief explanation of the trade that went bad. This would really be beneficial to us all here.
And at the same time, post some names of good traders so if we ever do want to trade with people, we just need to check the good traders thread.
Jewel48192 02-16-2004, 08:31 PM It is such a good idea to have a good trader and bad trader list. If someone is a bad trader, i think people should specify what the person's home address is as well as alias's. Home addresses will be easy to confirm. If someone is claimed to have fishy alias's,, all alias's home addresses should be posted so that way we can see if the different alias's and the Home address match.
Beavis 02-16-2004, 08:49 PM You can't post home addresses for rights of privacy issues...
Jewel48192 02-16-2004, 09:12 PM oh yea, i forgot about the privacy thing. But yea, a zip code or city would be good. Sometimes having different alias's is hard to prove, so too bad we can't post full addresses :(

I dont know if a sticky post for bad traders would be allowed - if people are bent on "getting back" at people for posting their names they could try and have the board closed and I would hate for that to happen.
BTW I have 4 DIFF tapes ready for you :) I hope to finish the other this weekend :) Will email you and let you know :)
