I'm just wondering how many years Kelsey Grammer has played the character of Fraiser Crane? And how much has the character changed over the years... Is Fraiser Crane just as analytical in the last few seasons of Fraiser as he was in the first few years of Cheers?
One last thing.... if it has been near 20 years... my God, Kelsey Grammer hasn't wanted to do SOMETHING ELSE??? There is only one more actor I can think of who played a character that long... James Arness as Marshal Dillon.

20 years.
I think he's been playing him this long because he knows a good thing when he sees it.
Really, even with Cheers.... all he'd be is "Frasier Crane" in the public eye. But he's taking advantage of it.
And so am I.
I think "Frasier" is the best show next to Cheers.
And with some episodes.... even better.

Well said, and also (I know you saw this too on the VH1 special), he wanted to get away from the character originally and pitched the idea for a different sitcom, but it was nixed and he was strongly advised to stay on with the same character.

After the last episode of Fraiser, Kelsey Grammer's career will be over. That's all I'm saying.

Not necessarily.
He's planning on doing a play.
And it might be over anyways.... if he does indeed run for senator.

Who cares? Kelsey can retire now if he wanted to. Frasier Crane was a cash cow for him. Also, he has a magnificent voice that will certainly get him several voice over jobs if he wants them.

Exactly.
Plus.... there's always "Sideshow Bob" on the Simpsons....
and with his voice Im sure he'll definately be used in some sort of animated movie.
(He already did Toy Story 2, as "Stinky Pete The Prospector")

I wonder if his series Gary the Rat is still around?

Exactly, I'm sure Bob Denver doesn't give a rat's pitute that he was type cast as Gilligan.
