I just wanted to show everyone all the info on Raven starring in the Sparkle remake. It's on some message board and somebody thinks Raven is gonna mess up the part. :mad: which won't be true.

First it was the late Aaliyah and then Ashanti. Now it seems that actress/singer Raven Symone will play the lead character in the remake of "Sparkle."


(Aug. 21, 2003) *Disney's "That's So Raven" star, Raven as in Raven Symone, has beat out Ashanti for the lead role in the Warner Brothers remake of "Sparkle."
The 17-year-old actress/singer will walk in big shoes when she plays the youngest sister in the the new version of the 1976 drama about a Supremes-like group of singing sisters. The role was originally played by Irene Cara.

For those that remember, the singing siblings initially encounter success, but that's when the drama began. And for that reason alone, only a strong actress/actress would qualify. Sorry Ashanti. Not this time.

The new version will keep the Curtis Mayfield penned songs from the original and Raven, who has just completed an album for Disney, will do her own singing in the film.

On another note, Michael Elliot, from "Like Mike," has been brought in to rewrite the script written by E. Lynn Harris.


Any thoughts?

We all know Raven is really going to mess up the role so I'm sure real Sparkle fans will not be watching it.

However, as a side note, you are mistaken about Sparkle being the youngest of the three sisters. Delores was actually the youngest. Go back to the beginning of the movie and you'll see that both Sparkle and Sister had boyfriends. Delores still had pigtails in her hair.

Why did you'll say that because you'll are justmad because Ashanti didn't get the part and YOU'LL JUST NEED TO LISTEN to Raven before you'll judge her against Ashanti plus raven isn't going to mess up the part you'll assinged in SPARKLE!!!!!

raven in the sparkle remake......

Did you guyz know that Ashanti was going to play the lead role but but but but they probably realized they had the wrong girl so they put Raven inn. Wah hoo!!!~!!~~! :eek: :eek: :eek: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Raven was actually second wheel for the lead in this movie. Ashanti's role in it was a rumor, as far as playing Sparkle goes. Aaliyah was slated for the role but she died, so they put it on hold. Whitney Houston and Debra Martin Chase(Princess Diaries and The Cheetah Girls) referred Raven to the part.

Anyway I can't wait to see her in this movie...very sexy movie but it'll probably be twisted a little for Raven's second audience:)
