Who here wears 80's closes? I do, I think.

I think I do, but i'm not sure. I wear jeans with flannel plaid shirts... I think I'm the only one who wears them now.

Well I used to back in the 80's http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Seriously though- since fashion seems to recycle itself every 20 years, 80's clothes will probably be back in fashion sometime between now and 2010. For most of the 80's, though, flared jeans were not in style- we wore tight jeans and big, long shirts and blouses. Then in the 90's we switched back to flared jeans/bellbottms- like in the 70's (and that STILL is in style in some areas).

So it's probably going to be time to bust out the neon stuff all over again. Although if there was one decade that should not come back fashion-wise, it would have to be the 80's. Let's just try to stay away from the crimped hair, cutting the neck out of your sweatshirts, and for God's sake, PLEASE don't start wearing leg warmers again. I beg of you.

Thank you! I was glad when 80's clothes went out of fashion. I hated those big hairdo's (although I have naturally curly hair, I am much happier keeping it straight). Plus it was sooo expensive to keep up with 80's fashion- BRAND NAMES all the way. If you didn't wear brand names such as Jordache, Guess, Reebok, Nike, etc.- people would look down on you (especially if you lived on the east coast).

I was in a Catholic school in the last half of the 80s so I was treated to the wonderful fashions of a Catholic school uniform. I don't know which one is worse?! Hopefully the 80's fashions will stay where they belong, in the same bon-fire that my Catholic school uniforms found themselves in or in a box in the back of a VERY DEEP closet!!

I have an 80’s fashion question. Back in the late 80’s (around ’88, 89, 90) where I lived we used to ‘tight roll’ our jeans. Basically you fold over the ankle of your jeans so they are tight against your leg and then roll them up a couple times. I am just curious if it was some weird fad where I lived or if it was a nationwide trend. Did anyone else do this?

No, flares were 70s, not 80s. When I was growing up in the 80s, we would make fun of anyone wearing flares. In the 80s, everyone rolled their jeans. Hard to do with a flared leg http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

IF the 80's come back in style I'll build a time machine and go back to the 90's, lol. Not really but get the point.

I still like my 80's fashion. I see nothing wrong with them.

I definitely tight rolled. Although I and everyone else I knew did it in like 6th/7th grade, this was in the early 90's. Either we were lame, or just really late. One other possibility is that it's just one of those things kids do in certain grades. A friend of mine had a younger brother who was doing it back in like '96 and he was in maybe 4th or 5th grade. Was this popular with adults ever? Or is it just one of those phases kids go through?

Do you wear tight pants Max? Try squeezing into a pair of those and you will see what I mean.

I'll be wearing my 'Charlies Angels' type wrap around shirt tonight when I go out...I guess that is more 70's style though.

I have. I still don't see what you mean. Looks like I'm a lost cause. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Well Max, I guess if you can walk around in those and feel comfortable, then you don't have to worry. But I'm talking about pants that are tight enough so that it can be difficult to sit down in them (not to exaggerate, but I used to know some ppl who wore their jeans that tight back in the 80's...)

I don't know. I was in middle school when tight rolling was popular. I have no idea if high school/college students did it. By '91 when I was in 9th grade it started to become 'uncool'. But my younger sister was in middle school at that time and she stopped too... so I can't tell if it was just a middle school thing or if anyone older did it too.....
