A quality episode and in my Top 10. There's something about the combination of children and old people that gets me almost every time. I even like "The Bewitchin' Pool," despite its obvious flaws (one of the last scenes is also shown as the first scene; adult actress June Foray dubs child actress Mary Badham's dialogue, except during the scenes in Aunt T's neighborhood).

I really enjoy Ed Wynn in this. He even makes "Ninety Years Without Slumbering" enjoyable for me. Another good thing about "One For The Angels" is the music. It was all stock music, no one wrote a score specifically for the episode, but I think the music that was chosen was very good and fits the episode exceptionally well. The only "stock music" episode in which I like the music even better is my eternal favorite, "Kick The Can."

Well, as trial lawyers sometimes observe, reasonable minds can differ. :)

I never understood why Mary Badham's voice is dubbed by June Foray in "The Bewitchin' Pool". There was nothing wrong with her voice when she played on "To Kill a Mockingbird". In fact, she was nominated for an Oscar.

I read about it and I think that it was because of the sound problems on that particular set.

...used in "One For the Angels" were taken from Bernard Herrmann's "Outer Space Suite", specifically written for the CBS (Stock) Music Library in 1957. The ones most prominently used are in the scenes when Lew Bookman literally "talks" Mr. Death out of taking the little girl by giving his "greatest pitch"...and the poignant scene at the end when Lew and Mr. Death walk down the street into the distance...into infinity.
