I wasn't sure where to put this topic, because I looked on Chit Chat-Sports and there's everything on there but figure skating, so I'm not sure if it's really considered a "sport".
I was just wondering if anybody follows it, because I do. I was on a message board for Stars On Ice, but one guy started getting so incredibly mean to me, and I thought, I don't need this, so I quit posting on there.
I'm mostly into the men and pairs. The women, not too much, and ice dancing, even less than that.
Anyhoo, I'm going to a show tomorrow night in Orlando, the Stars On Ice tour. It'll be my 3rd skating show(tix are rather pricey). Alexei Yagudin is one of my very favorites, so seeing him would make my Valentine's Day.
:eyes:  :mango
Any fellow skate fans?

I like it, I think it's cool. I don't know any skater's names though.
I went to a show a fews years ago it was great. I got to see my favorite skater Scott Hamliton, he was awsome. Everyone was great. Plus I got to see Tara Lipinski trip. I could never stand her;)

Whenever I think of figure skating the first people that come to mind are Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. If you have no idea who I'm talking about, these two were part of a so-called "Soap Opera on Ice" in 1994. Tonya Harding tried anything to get the gold medal in the Winter Olympics. She went as far as to get her ex-husband to hire an attacker to hit Kerrigan's knees with a metal baton. I have the attack on CD as part of the book "And the Fans Roared". It is sad listening to Kerrigan screaming and crying, "Why? Why? Why?" She recovered from her injuries in the next few weeks. Then came the competition. Harding faltered due to a broken lace on her skate. I remember watching this right when it happened. I saw her crying after making those mistakes and I asked my mother, "Do they count the mistakes?" While she was going down, Kerrigan did well and eventually got the silver medal. Harding was (deservedly) banned from figure skating competition for life after this ordeal.

Loved ice skating when I saw the sport in the Battle of the Brians, Boitano & Orser in 1988 when I was 13 and really got into the sport during the Nancy/Tonya incident!! Loved it since it is my second favorite sport next to the NFL!!

I used to watch it when Brian Boitano and Katarina Witt were in their heyday. I've lost interest the last few years though.

I like it. I used to watch it all the time, but I hardly ever do anymore. I never seem to know when it's on.
