View Full Version : What's wrong with freshman?
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-13-2004, 05:55 PM At least every week I hear some damn comment from the sophmores, juniors and seniors about how much they hate freshman...what the hell? What'd we ever do to them? I'm sick and tired of hearing it. They think that since they're the big bad kids (what? at most 4 years older than us?) that they're so much better or something. I'm sure it's mostly just for fun, because we're the little kids of the school...but it gets annoying hearing it after awhile, like they really actually can't stand us for some reason. I'm sure us "little kids" can get annoying sometimes, I mean, I hate kids my age, and I'm sure I'll hate the ninth graders next year, too. But hearing everyone constantly bitching about it is annoying...so...can any of you sophmores/juniors/seniors tell what's so wrong with us? Or maybe, in fact, what's wrong with you. :)
Rhiannon 02-13-2004, 05:57 PM Being mean to freshmen makes upperclassmen feel more important.

Amen to that ;)
I didn't really have that problem when I was a freshman in HS...My sister was a HS senior that year, so she told everybody not to do anything to me. ;)
Rhiannon 02-13-2004, 06:21 PM I am in band, so I made a lot of upperclassmen friends when I was a freshmen. I didn't have a problem with getting picked on. Now that I'm all a sophomore I don't pick on freshmen, I don't think it's that much fun.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-13-2004, 06:23 PM I don't really get picked on...I just overhear it all the time. Like...it was either today or yesterday, these two girls we walking up the stairs bitching about how people go down the upside. Her friend goes, "yeah well you do it." and the other girl goes, "Yeah, only when there's no one on the stairs or when it's freshman just to piss them off" ohno:
Hollow 02-13-2004, 06:39 PM im a freshman. we got laughed at because we couldnt go to frolic. who cares. i wouldnt go anyway.
Blair_Warner02 02-13-2004, 06:40 PM When I was a Freshman, the Seniors would call us "The Little Freshman" (I never heard it though) and some of the freshman asked the teachers and principal why they did it and they said they only do it because the Seniors did it to them when they were Freshman.
Chelsea 02-13-2004, 07:22 PM I don't get it, I just don't get it. For the last 2 decades, by all accounts, there were NEVER any huge class-conflicts. Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, AND Seniors ALL got along quite fine. Seniors treated Underclassmen with respect. We, the current senior class, STILL try to treat them with respect. But, it seems like starting with the current Sophomore class' Freshman year, the incomers have been strutting around as if they own the place. None of the classes before then did that (We didn't, the Current Junior class didn't, none of the already-graduated classes did), but, in the last year and a half, things have gradually gone, well, stereotypical.
I'm glad I'm graduating. Next year's gonna be BAD. And the year after? (shudders)
IownTheDivision69 02-13-2004, 07:23 PM heh... i loved being a freshman.
but the freshmen this year suck.
I didn't get picked on for being a freshman. I did, however, get teased for being a drama nerd. :D I didn't get teased too badly, though, because at 6'4," I was a big guy.
IownTheDivision69 02-13-2004, 07:28 PM i'm picked on for being a band nerd :p
but i give you drama***s kudos! i went to drama camp over the summer and must say it wasn't really my cup of tea, it took too much work. So i give you kudos for putting up with all the dancing and singing. *salutes*
ArmoredFist 02-13-2004, 08:34 PM I think the real problem is when the freshmen go from being the top of the middle school to being the bottom of high school. They don't realize they don't run things. When they try to act tough and try to force their will upon others, that's when the trouble starts.
Plus, I'm not sure if this happens in other schools, but at the high school I went to, the juniors always went after the freshmen girls. This caused tensions between the freshman boys and the junior boys.
I never really had trouble during my freshman year. That could have been associated with the fact that two of my best friends were juniors and my brother was a senior. My brother was also 6'6", +300 lbs, pure evil, and (due to a rumor from his best friend) was widely known for eating puppies.
Bang A Gong 02-13-2004, 08:37 PM I hated being a freshman. But I never got any trouble from upperclassmen for being "a little freshie" [a term my older sister used when she was in high school]. I just kept to myself and didn't bother anyone. They all pretty much just ignored me, thankfully.
I hated my freshman year. I just want to forget it.
Central Perk 02-13-2004, 08:38 PM No one at my school really picks on freshmen, we all seem to get along ok.
Brent88 02-13-2004, 08:56 PM I got out of Public school in my freshman year. It SUCKED! I constantly got picked on, but I got picked on in earlier years too, it just got really bad in my Freshman year.
I'm now homeschooled and couldn't be happier. I don't miss school at all.
I never had a problem being a freshman in highschool or in college. Some of the freshmen guys got picked on in highschool, but it was cuz they were idiots, being freshmen was just the excuse ;)
I like the little freshmen here! I'm a senior and I think it's so cute how they all wonder around campus with their little maps - aww, kinda pathetic, but we do really try to help them out. I'd say we're pretty nice to the froshies, cuz our school is so huge that everyone gets lost their first year.

Amen to that one!
I don't get it either. I mean, they were once freshmen too. I remember all the seniors used to make fun of the freshmen in the hall carrying around their schedules and getting lost at the beginning of the year...and its like..hello..the same thing happened to you. They make fun of freshmen for every stupid little thing...I just don't get it. Oh well, that's just how high school is..just wait until next year when we'll be sophomores and can get fun out of making fun of freshmen too. :p
KerriBerri687 02-13-2004, 09:36 PM haha we all got it when we were freshmen too;)
freshmen are just easy targets i guess
i mean im a junior and i dont pick on any freshmen...and idont think its right but...yea
Ewan's My Man 02-13-2004, 09:46 PM They say it but I don't give a crap...
Actually, it's quite amusing when ppl make freshman comments when they're in my class, I'm like, "Funny, you're a SENIOR and in the same class as a FRESHMAN...let's see who knows more..." and it would be me.
I'm anti-social I ignore it, I don't really care.
Titania 02-13-2004, 11:28 PM I'm a senior and I really don't have a problem with the frosh...as long as they remember that there is a little bit of a "food chain" in high school. I have a lot of underclassmen friends though, from drama and band, some of them are really cool. However when someone comes up to me, say in band, and tells me how to run my section when it's their first year, yeah, not right.
I think one reason upperclassmen pick on freshmen is because they were picked on as freshmen...it's a neverending cycle. And hey, they're easy targets, when something goes wrong at school..."must be the frosh, they weren't here last yr!" ;)
Czas na Zywiec 02-14-2004, 12:12 AM it's a perk you get once you become an upperclassman. I LOVED junior and senior years. we don't really pick on the freshman, it just gets annoying conforming to their standards (such as when teachers want to show movies, but the underclassmen of the class are too young to see it so we're all prohibited from seeing it.) it's just a matter of inconvenience. I never picked on the freshies, (or in my case sophomores, cause there were no freshman at my high school) but it's just a thing of the high school food chain. sort of an initiation and preperation for the reast of your high school years.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 02-14-2004, 01:02 AM When you are an upperclassman, you will finally see why everyone hates freshman.
Its true, when I was a freshman all I heard was how freshman suck and didnt know why. When I was a junior/senior I realized why. Youll notice when youre an upperclassmen how freshman first come to HS thinking theyre all cool and stuff because they were just upperclassmen in middle school, so now they think they own the place and gaaaaaah yah. Its hard to notice when youre the freshman, but when I got older I noticed it.

So true.
We don't really pick on freshman, we just get really annoyed with them. To me, they try to act all cool, but they are really just being rude. There's a time to be funny and have a good time and there's a time to shut up and they just don't get it, at least the freshman at my school. And also, as upperclassmen, we have gone through 4 years of high school, we know the system, we just want to get out and while we have drama of our own (ugh), we don't want to have to put up with all the drama freshman try to create.
EricIdlefan 02-14-2004, 03:12 AM Never had a problem as a freshman because my brother was a junior and if people messed with me, they would have to deal with my big brother who was considered "my bodyguard!!"

I agree. That's the only reason they pick on them.
-*Leah*- 02-14-2004, 07:46 PM Its not really like that at small schools like mine, because K-12 are all housed in one building. Yah, but when the little 6th graders come "upstairs" they can be annoying.
