I don't own a DVD but considering buying one but I know people that have over 300-500 and maybe more?? Just wondering out of curiousity!! Mijada 02-14-2004, 04:17 PM I only have about 20. I don't see how people can buy hundreds of them. They probably only watch then a couple times and then put them away. I just buy the ones that I know i will watch over and over. AKA 02-14-2004, 05:09 PM Yeah! Why would anyone want more than 20-or-so DVDs? ;) By the way, here's (http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=akawalrus) an online catalog of my DVD collection. Ria 02-14-2004, 11:22 PM Quite a varied collection AKA--I like it. My own spans about 100 movies at this point (a little less), and I watch all of them at least once every 3 months. ;) barwars 02-15-2004, 07:05 PM I just counted today.... 95. And about 200 on my "to-do-list" Plus 15 "TV DVDs" and all 7 "Disney Treasures" yes, I know.... im a dork. barwars 02-15-2004, 07:09 PM Some I watch all the time ("Cheers- Season 1&2", "Vacation", "The Goonies", "Christmas Vacation", "Pirates of the Carribbean", and many more) Whereas others are only watched maybe once every 6 months ("Mr Magoo", "Mystery Men", "Jurassic Park III") MaydayMalonesGirl 02-15-2004, 07:18 PM My family has about 150.... about ten of them belong to me. The reason I don't get rid of them is because 1.) I'm a rabid collector, and 2.) I know that eventually, I'll get in the mood to watch a certain movie (or TV show), and it's great to have them always available. Georgia's on my Mind 02-16-2004, 11:31 PM umm..i have 9 dvds. ~*Belle N'Shawn forever~* 02-17-2004, 04:27 PM I have alot of movies on DVDs, I just bought thew New Lion King 1/2 , and Alice and Wonderland to add ot my video collection i have also Friends ALL DVDS .... and alot more !!!!!! So long as I have a favorite movie in my collection, I don't necessarily watch it right away. I have dvds I bought 3, 4 years ago I haven't watched yet. First dvd I ever bought: Purple Rain, haven't watched it yet. My dvd movie collection is pushing 200. With most old favorite movies that I wanted already available on dvd, the bulk of my future dvd purchases will probably be tv-related. I heard something about this awhile back, but never anything more about it. vashti1999 02-18-2004, 04:52 PM Originally posted by BuffySlayer79 is it true they are reissuing this DVD for the 20th anniversary, in widescreen (the original is pan-and-scan only) with deleted footage and the When Doves Cry video? Yeah, all that I've read is that there'll be region 2 (UK) releases in August of Graffiti Bridge, Under The Cherry Moon and a 2 disc special edition of Purple Rain, with a region 1 (US) release expected to be announced for release around the same time, though I haven't seen any certain confirmation from Warner Bros. I've watched my old vhs copy seemingly 1,000 times so when I got the first dvd, I just checked out bits and pieces, never actually watched the whole movie from start to finish on dvd. Plus, I'm a college kid and money is tight. So far I have: Dangerous Minds Fight Club Monty Python and the Holy Grail Y Tú Mama Tambien The Simpsons Season 3 DVD Jack1000 02-19-2004, 04:43 PM Well we just got a DVD player for Christmas. I had some DVD's for my computer when DVD's first came out.....WAY WAY Back, like 1998. The one thing that I noticed is that some of my disks that are really old, I can't access the menu on them by pressing the menu button on the remote for the DVD player. (A hand comes up that says, you can't do that.) I know that they change the coding and release updated versions of the disks, because my other newer disks, I can call up the menu just fine. I only have about 10 movies. I'm told that NET FLICKS is cool because you can rent movies on line (3 at a time) keep them as long as you want with no comittment to buy and you can send them back and they give you 3 more (free shipping both ways is provided) I understand that you only have to pay about $20 a month for the service and can cancel at anytime. I don't subscribe to NetFlix and am not really a "DVD person." But if you have a movie that you love and you know you'd treasure it, you can get it on DVD and it will last forever if you take care of the disk and player. Jack webuster 02-19-2004, 05:19 PM These are the ones I have that I can remember: MASH The Rocky Horror Picture Show Chicago Dr Strangelove Phantom of the Paradise Waking Life Red Dragon The Silence of the Lambs Hannibal Lord of the Rings (fellowship and cartoon versions) I have about 7 more I can't remember though. Liza 02-19-2004, 06:22 PM Originally posted by webuster The Rocky Horror Picture Show I just bought that one :D Bought the fancy 2-disc-version with tons of special features. It's keeping me amused ;) *MIBabe03* 02-19-2004, 07:21 PM I have alot of DVD's of my own. I'll try and remember them. That sucks. I sure hope I can still watch my DVDs in 5 years without any problems. EricIdlefan 02-26-2004, 03:33 AM Originally posted by vashti1999 Exactly the same with me. I used to buy all the time but have recently gotten into the trend of renting before buying. Needless to say it's cut down on the movies I buy I to own. vashti1999 06-21-2004, 09:58 PM Originally posted by vashti1999 I have dvds I bought 3, 4 years ago I haven't watched yet. First dvd I ever bought: Purple Rain, haven't watched it yet. My dvd movie collection is pushing 200. There'll be a new Purple Rain dvd coming out in 2 months that I'll most likely end up watching before the first one I bought. Is that bad or what? Basically, that's the reason I'm reviving this thread, to see how the dvd buyers here are doing with their collection. I'm still bad when it comes to some of the movie dvds I have, for example, I've had the Godfather collection for seemingly two years at least: still haven't watched it. I'm trying to get better about watching them as opposed to just buying them and putting them on the shelf. I've been concentrating mostly on my tv-dvds though, Freaks and Geeks, Three's Company, etc. With those, I'm good, I get through them. I just counted 48 movie dvds in my collection that I haven't watched yet. I'm gonna attempt to watch them all before the end of the year. How are you guys doing with your collections? |
