8 Simple Rules is my favorite TV show but I'm sadly losing hope in a chance for renewal...I hope it does get renewed but I'm sadly doubting it.. Does anyone here think it has a chance? (please say yes please say yes please say yes)

Don't think about that. Even though ratings have dropped and returned to the low points of last season, and now without Mr. Ritter they're a little lower than they should be, the show pulled in some of the highest ratings ABC has seen in years from a comedy show, and is definitely one of ABC's bigger hits. ABC is the 3rd or 4th network, so it's a marginal hit compared to shows on CBS and NBC, but a big hit for ABC. Even NYPD Blue, now in it's 11th year and still very popular, has been pulling in comparable numbers to 8SR. They'res a very good chance it will be renewed, depending on if the writers, cast, and crew want to continue, if they'res enough creative life left in the series.

Since it's been nominated for an award, and is getting a lot of press time it should have a good chance of being renewed, and the high ratings will help. I think it's next season that will be the real challenge for them.

Considering the lack of hits on ABC, I doubt they could let 8 Simple Rules go. I mean, 8 Simple Rules does better than a lot of comedies on ABC, and they can't change their entire schedule. But honestly, what do I know?

I think it will be renewed. One weak rating, this past week, I do not think will be enough for ABC for decide to cancel it, especially since it was competing against 'American Idol' and 'Friends'. It has, overall, gotten strong ratings, especially for an ABC show. Maybe if ABC aired reruns of 8 Simple Rules on weeks in which there is not a new show, instead of 'According to Jim', it would gain more of an audience. It is frustrating that ABC seems to feel that they should air reruns of 'According to Jim' in their own timeslot and in '8 Simple Rules' timeslot. This complaint aside, however, I feel that ABC will see that it does not have many hit shows, and it has difficulty making hit shows, so they would be making a mistake if they let '8 Simple Rules' go. It has proven itself to be a hit show for ABC.
