View Full Version : To Pav -- Starsky & Hucth
Flash72 02-11-2004, 05:36 PM Do you know if TV Land or any other station may pick up "Starsky and Hutch" and/or "Kojak" anytime in the near future? I know Hallmark airs the latter one but only sporadically. And with the feature film version of "Starsky," I thought perhaps someone might be interested.

TVJunkie101 02-12-2004, 07:22 PM LOL, Pav, I wish they'd make up their minds about it.
I'm surprised they are doing one, as it's probably not all that easy to snag a few eppies for just one special. I'm happy anyway. Too bad they aren't actually acquiring it.

Pavan 02-27-2004, 01:31 PM Yes, Jeremy you are correct. They just announced it officially today:
TV LAND GOES TO THE MOVIES WITH BEN STILLER AND OWEN WILSON OF "STARSKY & HUTCH"
Network Pays Homage to Series with "Starsky & Hutch on Starsky & Hutch" to Celebrate Warner Bros. Pictures Release
Santa Monica, CA , February 27, 2004 - Before you see "Starsky & Hutch" at theaters everywhere on Friday, March 5, tune in to TV Land on Thursday, March 4 as Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, along with Vince Vaughn, Carmen Electra , Amy Smart and Snoop Dogg-- stars of the much-anticipated movie -- host a six-hour programming marathon of the exciting and hip original TV series that started it all from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET/PT. >From their thoughts on the film's wardrobe -- tight jeans and pleather jackets -- to Stiller demonstrating the famous "bump and slide" with action figures and a model car, the duo share with viewers how they got into character and their thoughts on working on the film. Additionally, Snoop Dogg provides his very own guide to working an 8-track machine.
"Starsky & Hutch represents the epitome of 1970s cool," states Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "TV Land is the perfect platform from which to celebrate this classic TV show and the release of the movie for die-hard fans everywhere."
Detective David Starsky (Ben Stiller) is the most dedicated undercover cop working the mean streets of Bay City, California. Due to his extremely zealous brand of police work, Starsky burns through partners faster than his beloved Gran Torino goes through spark plugs. Detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchison (Owen Wilson) is having career issues of his own - he's a good cop, but his hazardously laidback personality and desire for a quick buck don't always get the job done. Exasperated Bay City Police Captain Dobey (Fred Williamson) has found the perfect solution for two of his biggest problems: pair up Starsky and Hutch and put them on the streets. As soon as the two mismatched crime fighters begin their first day on the beat as a team, a "floater" turns up on the Bay City coastline. With the help of Hutch's dynamite, street-savvy informant Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg), the two begin to unravel the mysterious murder case. Investigating their first clue, the boys meet Staci (Carmen Electra) and Holly (Amy Smart), Bay City Cheerleaders who are more than eager to help - in any way they can.
All signs seem to point at wealthy businessman Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn), but Starsky and Hutch just can't seem to make a case against him. Unbeknownst to them, Feldman has cooked up a plan to foil the DEA and is plotting the biggest and most lucrative drug deal of his career. The unlikely duo will use their canniest undercover skills, hardcore street smarts and striking good looks to solve the crime and make sure the criminal does the time. The movie is directed by Todd Phillips ("Old School", "Road Trip"). It is distributed domestically by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The series -- which debuted in 1975 and ran on ABC for four seasons -- was produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg. The popular cop show was beloved for its cool cars, sheer excitement and the unforgettable pairing of Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul as the title characters. Glaser starred as Dave Starsky, a loud, brash street-wise detective. On the other hand, his partner Ken Hutchison was sensitive, well-read and quiet. What appeared to be a mismatched buddy team ended up working perfectly as they meshed as one and rid the streets of crime. Antonio Fargas starred as Huggy Bear, the duo's ultra-hip, jive-talking, street-wise informant. Bernie Hamilton played the detectives' long-suffering boss, Captain Harold Dobey. Another star of the show that became an instant hit with the viewers was the 1974, limited edition blazing red Ford Gran Torino driven by Starsky. With a white stripe running around it, it was dubbed "The Striped Tomato."
The line-up for the Starsky & Hutch marathon is as follows (all times ET/PT):

Indeed, without any corporate increstation watermark on the bottom right of the screen, S&H aired practically on a daily basis four years ago on the NewTNN, today known as SpikeTV.
