I love the show, always have, but I am afraid, that people just aren't watching. As can be seen here (http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,272_617|86294|1|,00.html) the show did a VERY low 5.1. Now I highly doubt ABC would cancel the show because of ratings like this for a couple of reasons.

1. It's going up against American Idol, a monster. If it could get a different timeslot, maybe, and most likely, it'd do a LOT better.

2. Although the ratings are low, the show gets the best ratings for sitcoms for ABC. According to Jim, Less than perfect, I'm with her and others do lower ratings normally, except with this AI thing.

Anyone else think they may need to move the show to a different day for it's survival?

The reason it was that low is because NBC also re-aired Friends from last Thursday this Tuesday. 8 Simple Rules should be a bit higher next week against the regular NBC time period program (Whoopi), for sure.

I agree that maybe it would be best if it got a new timeslot so it wouldn't have to compete against American Idol and Navy NCIS. I don't know if it needs a new timeslot to survive because, as was mentioned, it is competing against American Idol which is taking viewers from all the shows in that timeslot. I did, however, e-mail a suggestion to ABC, which was to air 8 Simple Rules, next season, at 8:00 on Wednesday, followed by My Wife and Kids. Those are ABC's strongest sitcoms and it would provide a strong one-two punch. Once American Idol is finished, however, I think that the ratings for 8 Simple Rules and every other show will rise again. The 5.1 rating is somewhat low, but it can be largely attributed to American Idol, and it will improve shortly.

I Think that 8 Simple Rules will fit better on Fridays Night at Nine and move Hope & Faith to Tuesdays Beacuse Friday Night is TGIF And TGIF on ABC Means Family Shows I think it would so here the that ABC Sould use

Tuesday
8:00 Hope & Faith
8:30 I,M with Her
9:00 According to Jim
9:30 Less then Perfect

Wednesday
8:00 My Wife and Kids
8:30 It all Relivate

Friday
8:00 George Lopez
8:30 Life with Bonnie
9:00 8 Simple Rules
9:30 Married to the Kellys

That whats will make ABC Better then in the Ratings

You may think that, and I do as well, but 25 million Americans+ don't. :p

As long as people keep watching reality TV it's going to be here to
stay. They're cheaper to make, and they don't have to pay big stars to be in them. I think they're a waste of time, personally, and the next new one is always worse than the one before it, but they are immensely popular in America, and will most likely be here to stay.

Reality tv will die down but it will take awhile. I remember when Sitcoms were the most popular on tv. Oh Well-----

Also just wanted to add, if they want to move it to Friday's it needs to stay out of the 8:00-9:00 timeslot, because 'Joan of Arcadia' airs at that time, and it wouldn't be too tasteful to put them up against Jason Ritter's show. That could cause bad blood.

Good point. Plus, personally, I'd have to decide whether to watch 8sr or JoA, I love both!
