Everything clicked back then, the writing was superb, the skits were hilarious and they were always doing something risky. Remember the Alanis Morisette video "Wash Me" ? I nearly pissed myseflf laughing. But then the show had a few bad seasons and I stopped watching. When Nicole Sullivan left, it was pretty much over for me. I watch SNL now and flip on commercials to Mad TV, but I never see anything interesting. Mind you, not that SNL is some piece of artwork. This season has been a big hit or miss, there have been terrible episodes and great ones. Last night, with Drew Barrymore, was a great one. WU was great, and I loved the skit with Donatella Versace- Maya Rudolph is one of the best things about the show, like when she played Diana Ross during WU. The script wasn't particularly funny, but Maya made it great. for me, the main reason I watch SNL is WU because it's usually great...usually. barwars 02-15-2004, 06:54 PM Without a doubt in my mind.... SNL. Nothing compares. No sketch comedy, IMO, has or will ever match the quality of SNL. And I agree -- lately WU has been the best part. Im just waiting for Season Sets. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-15-2004, 07:23 PM Originally posted by db108108 I used to watch Mad TV religiously back int 1998-1999, it's best season. And WU's definately my favorite part. Usually has me pissing my pants. AKA 02-17-2004, 07:46 PM Currently, I don't find either show funny, but Saturday Night Live has the edge, as it used to be great, and Mad TV has never been good. Frischman_Fan 02-18-2004, 04:10 PM I just want to say that I think everyone should atleast watch Madtv every now and then and maybe you won't judge it based on a few non-amuzing sketches in the past!! This show has changed alot and is funny as ever!! No show is perfect and trust me...SNL has it's MAJOR flaws too, which I won't get into!! But check it out!! Madtv comes on Mon-Fri (1:00, 5:00, and 7:30-pm) on Comedy Central and Saturday (11:00pm) on Fox I'm not saying you all HAVE to like it!! Just watch it!! That is all!! As for more recent SNL, I'm a fan of Will Ferrell's work on the show. But that's about as far as it goes. barwars 02-19-2004, 12:05 PM Monty Python's Flying Circus is hilarious. [No pun intended.] MadTV is so much better than SNL. For the past few years, SNL has been horrible. The cast is awful and the jokes fall flat. I can't stand Jimmy Fallon. He constantly breaks character by cracking a smile or a laugh during sketches. The show used to be good when Will Ferrell and Christ Kattan and Anya Gasteyer and all of those good old people were part of the cast. But now it's just boring. MadTV, while I admit has gotten weak over the years, has always been and always will be the best. I love Mo Collins [who, unfortunately, is leaving this year] and Alex Borstein, Will Sasso, Nicole Sullivan, and Deborah Wilson were great on the show. MadTV has lost many of it's best actors over the years, but at least the old episodes are wonderful, and I can now watch them thanks to Comedy Central airing them in syndication. How about Bunny Swan? "He look-a like a man." Or Stuart? "Look at what I can do!" Or Lorraine? And I loved Will Sasso as Kenny Rodgers and Deborah Wilson as Whitney Houston. Too bad all the good ones are gone. But at least Michael McDonald is still around. It's a shame that Mo is leaving though. She was definitely my favorite and her departure will be a great loss to the show. Especially that skit when they'd be in a store, he and Horatio, and then Will Ferrell would ride in on his motorscooter thing and answer his small cell phone and then leave. Did anyone else notice that Ana Gesteyer played Martha Stewart on the 3/6 episode? db108108 03-08-2004, 02:44 AM Everybdody noticied that! The audience loved it and it was great to see Ana back in the role. The 3/6 episode was pretty good. The things I look most foreward to on the show are the Donatella Versace sketches and WU. That's because they have very little time to learn everything, much of it's written within a few weeks. I'm sure the people on MadTV have tons of time to learn their lines and plus, it's not taped live. And,myself, barely ever notice that anyway... joecool 04-12-2004, 01:16 AM MADtv all the way its so friggin funny dot played by stephanie weir is the funniest character i love that show snl on the other hand isnt very funny jimmy fallon is always breaking character and the weekened update's jokes are really getting lame:D   :p db108108 04-12-2004, 01:42 AM SNL on 4/9 was golden! Janet Jackson was great in just about every skit she was in- her Condi Rice impression was absolutely hilarious, especially when she was trying to practice the smile. I honestly didn't expect Janet to be good, but she fit in so, so well. The Good Times sketch was also drop dead hilarious, but it reminded me of something I was more likely to see on MadTV. MadTV spoofs thtv shows/movies alot more than SNL does. And speaking of that, I saw the H2 sketch on MadTV the other week with the Stars of the UPN. I almost pissed myself laughing. Especially when Eve had to climb up to the top square and she was cursing all the way. In general, I find that MadTv gets away with alot more than SNL does, although SNL really did push it on Saturday with the "cork soaker" sketch. Janet almost said it the other way more than a few times and could barely keep her composure, which was hilarious. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-12-2004, 06:57 PM Originally posted by joecool MADtv all the way its so friggin funny dot played by stephanie weir is the funniest character i love that show snl on the other hand isnt very funny jimmy fallon is always breaking character and the weekened update's jokes are really getting lame:D   :p 1) It's called live tv, not always easy to be perfect. It been on longer THEN mad tv 2. SNL Has a better cast then Mad TV 3. SNL Has only A-lister host & Mad TV Sometimes does not used the host 4. SNL has news that talked about funny liked Bush & Kerry The only that I like Mad TV Better 1.
