I'm just itching to pick up the rest of the Simpsons DVD's. Maybe I'll make a run to Target tomorrow :)

Edit: I don't know why I said that. I meant as soon as I come into some money again (which will be pretty soon :D).

Hey, If Im not paying -- I'll take whatever you got for me.
And from what I've watched (the pilot) there's NOTHING dramatic about Starsky & Hutch.

It's not funny.... but its fun.

Yeah I know, it actually is more funny than it is dramatic, especially the way Starsky runs, swinging his arms around as he's chasing the bad guys.

I have Season 4.... but haven't watched any of it yet.
I got all 4 within a week, and am only on the third disc of Season 3.

Just a quick question about TCBS.... is it in chronological order??

I'm still watching The Simpsons Season 1...I'm pathetic, I'm on the last ep (Moaning Lisa) on the first disc. Good thing there's only 3 discs in this one.

About the TCBS DVD's...no, they aren't chronological order. I'm giving you a list of what I have on my DVD's.

Volume One
Episode 1
- Guest Star: Dinah Shore
- Orig. Airdate: November 13, 1976

Episode 2
- Guest Stars: Roddy McDowall and The Jackson 5 (as musical guests)
- Orig. Airdate: March 16, 1974 (Bonus fact: this episode marked the very first "The Family" skit that ever aired, which eventually led to the spinoff series, "Mama's Family")

Volume Two
Episode 1
- Guest Stars: Ken Berry and Jack Weston
- Orig. Airdate: October 20, 1973

Episode 2
- Guest Stars: Rock Hudson and Steve Lawrence
- Orig. Airdate: January 29, 1977

Volume Three
Episode 1
- Guest Star: Carl Reiner
- Orig. Airdate: January 19, 1974

Episode 2
- Guest Star: Steve Lawrence
- Orig. Airdate: January 10, 1976

Volume Four
Episode 1
- Guest Stars: Rock Hudson and Nancy Walker
- Orig. Airdate: February 15, 1975

Episode 2
- Guest Star: Roddy McDowall
- Orig. Airdate: November 1, 1975

Volume Five
Episode 1
- Guest Star: Jim Nabors
- Orig. Airdate: September 25, 1976 (Bonus fact: This was the season premiere episode that marked TCBS's 10th season. Jim Nabors was Carol's "good luck charm", so he always appeared on all the season premiere eps during TCBS's 11-year run)

Episode 2
- Guest Stars: Ken Berry and Carl Reiner
- Orig. Airdate: December 14, 1974

There's 20 volumes altogether, so that's 40 complete, uncut episodes of TCBS. :woohoo:

^^^^^ No wonder I've felt like I was going through withdrawal, I've gone over a whole month without getting anything. About to go on a break and pick up both Soap Season 2 and All In The Family Season 3. I guess I'll edit (update) my list once I've officially got them.

This thread is for naming all the TV Shows on DVD that you currently own, not ALL DVD's in general. In your case, that would be Friends Season 7. :)

The first volume is something like $5 with $2 for S/H [I THINK] and every volume after that is about $20 + S/H. Expensive, I know. But I doubt all the seasons of TCBS will ever come out to DVD due to musical rights and everything. There's 20 volumes total, so I'll take 40 uncut episodes :D

You could always do eBay if you don't want to do Columbia House...Vol. 1-5 can easily be found, while the volumes with bigger numbers (Vol. 10 and up) are harder to come by. I won't have all 20 volumes til September 2005.

Suncoast was having a sweet-as-hell sale (AITF S3 was $20), PLUS I had a Replay certificate for $10, so I only paid $10 + loose change for it. That deal was too sweet to pass up. :D

Thanks for mentioning me. I just can't get myself to post all my new purchases. I'm just that lazy. I'm ashamed to say I haven't bought any DVDs in the past couple weeks. The last one was

Batman: The Animated Series (Volume 1)
Challenge of the Super Friends (Season 1)

I'm saving my money for August. Here's all I'm gonna buy then:

Sliders (August 3rd)
ALF (August 10th)
Good Times (August 10th)
Happy Days (August 17th)
Laverne and Shirley (August 17th)
Lateline (August 17th)
Saved by the Bell: The College Years (August 17th)
Boy Meets World (August 24th)
Futurama (August 24th)
The Munsters (August 24th)
I Love Lucy (August 31st)
Star Trek (August 31st)

Those are all MUST purchases for me. I can wait for All in the Family and Soap, seeing as I don't hardly watch the seasons I already own.

When I get the chance, I'll update my collection in this thread.

Sure I will. Whatever I can find in the dumpster at work is all mine. :)

I don't want anyone to get the impression that I'm rich or anything. I'm a bagger at Kroger and I only buy TV shows on DVD. When I move out on my own, I won't be able to buy as many shows. I'm taking full advantage of living with my parents while I can.

I buy most of my DVDs at Suncoast in the Mall. I have a card there, which gives me deals and coupons for $15, $10 or $5 off on my purchases.

Ha, you sound EXACTLY like me. And I shop at Suncoast too....but I have got to stop doing that. They're so expensive. I need to start buying from Deep Discount DVD's website. The best thing is, they have free S&H on everything. :D

Ah yes, Replay. I have a card with them. I also have a Barnes & Noble Readers' Advantage Card, so I get a discount on every purchase I make from them. I make most of my DVD purchases there.

I buy a lot of DVDs from Costco, too (aka Price Club in some areas). They don't have a wide selection, but what they have, they have in abundance. And MAN,* is it cheap!

Soap (Season 2)
X-Men: Evolution (Season 2, Volume 3)

I'm deeply ashamed, but I'll get over that when I watch all the DVDs. ;)

That's me every so often. I can go in, with a specific plan of just buying A, and maybe B, and end up leaving with C, D and E as well. But like TVAdam suggests, you've now got hours of entertainment to help make the guilt of impulsiveness disappear. Enjoy the dvds Adam.

I noticed that too.
When Im at work, there's usually nobody to talk to, so all I do is think in my head (about a lot of things, not just TV or TVDVDs).... but most the time I try to figure out what to buy next and still have money to save left over.

It'd be a lot easier if I got more than minimum wage.

I have no deals either (aside from the Sonycard points thing). The tv-dvd sets I'm most eager for, I usually pick up on release day from Target, or Circuit City. I work near a mall so I have a few options if one place doesn't have it in stock or is charging more than I'm willing to pay.

One day at work, on my lunch break, I got a piece of paper and started writing all the sitcoms I could think of that were coming to DVD. That's how much of think of TV-DVDs. It is literally a dream come true. I just wish that more of my absolute favorites would come.

I have pretty much quit watching TV except for my DVDs. Before shows came to DVDs in season sets, I tried taping all my favorite shows. I have a HUGE tape collection. Most of the shows I started taping, I never finished. Due to either my laziness, missing an episode, or the channel stop airing the program. It will feel great getting rid of all those tapes. Here's a list of the shows that are coming to DVD that I tried taping on TV.

ALF (I would have taped it if it were on)

The Andy Griffith Show (I taped like the first 50 or so episodes, before TV Land starting screwing the order, so I quit.)

Boy Meets World (I just couldn't stand the Disney edits.)

Ellen (I tried taping off of Lifetime. The VCR I used back then was a piece of crap. So my "Ellen" tapes have tracking problems.)

Gilligan's Island (I taped the first 3 episodes off of N@N before giving up.)

Happy Days (First on N@N and then on TV Land. I never got past season 4.)

I Love Lucy (Actually I had every episode minus 1 on tape from N@N back in 1995. That was pre N@N logo on the screen. This was my big collectors show, since I taped it on the best setting and made personal cases for each tape. I eventually got the missing episode on tape from TV Land, but by then, I was out of my "I Love Lucy" phase.)

The King of Queens (I always planned on taping it once it got to syndication. Since it came to DVD, I just decided to buy the DVDs)

King of the Hill (I taped the first season in it's original run, before getting out of the show.)

Married ... with Children (I started taping the FX reruns, but gave up after a while.)

The Monkees (In N@N's Block Party Summer in 1997, I taped the first 30 episodes. Then they switched to Green Acres. I have taped a few Monkees episodes off of the Screen Gems Network previews.)

The Munsters (I taped all the episodes I could from N@N. When it came to TV Land, I taped the marathon showing all, except one banned episode.)

NewsRadio (My all-time favorite show. I have some taped off of NBC and the rest from A&E. I can't wait until the DVDs finally come out.)

Quantum Leap (A favorite of mine for a long time. I've always tried to complete my collection on the Sci-Fi Channel.)

Sliders (I have every episode on tape from Sci-Fi Channel. One of the few where I completed my collection)

Taxi (I taped this off of N@N back in 1996. I got into season 3 before giving up. I had no patience back then.)

Three's Company (Another show I taped off of N@N.)

The Tick (I taped the 8 aired episodes in their original run. FOX left one episode unaired, which the DVD contains.)

I was planning to buy "Big Top Pee Wee" the other day when I was at Suncoast...but then my body led me to the TV section and I looked up at the top shelf....it said "All In the Family Season 3 - ONLY $19.99" and I thought, "omg: omg: omg: I HAVE A $10 REPLAY CERTIFICATE!!!" so I went to the New Releases section and found AITF S3...OMG. $10 for it...I thought, "Screw Big Top Pee Wee! I'm thinking about switching my online preference from amazon.com to ddd, I like the prices I'm seeing on ddd.com. Unfortunately, the selection seems to be lacking, I did a search for My So Called Life and nothing came up. I was hoping to see that they're selling that at a good price.

That's most all I think about, with the announcements of all that's coming out in the next few months, it makes you excited at the thought of owning favorite shows in a great, collectable format like dvd, and you then of course start to anticipate hearing news about favorites where there hasn't been an announcement yet. You feel like any day now you're gonna get the news about your favorite show you've been waiting to hear. That's pretty much on my mind every single day. It used to be dvds in general, but I'm barely interested in movie dvds anymore. When it comes to tv dvds, I'm telling you, I'm a junkie. I have a ways to go to catch up to TVAdam, but I'll get there.

True, true. You just CANNOT beat their prices, though. And they have practically all the DVD's I want on there, so that makes me happy. I'm considering picking up the rest of the Simpson seasons from DDD and hopefully QL S1.

Oh MAN...I can TOTALLY sympathize with you on that one. Mama's Family has been doing REALLY well in the voting section on TVShowsOnDVD.com. Right now, it's 58th in unreleased rank, 96th in overall rank. I will SERIOUSLY throw a party the day I hear about Mama's Family being released to DVD. I just know the DVD announcement for that will be coming soon...I have a feeling. That's ALWAYS on my mind every day! Then, I start wondering when the rest of the TV shows I have seasons to are coming out (for example, Cheers...It was on for 11 years but they only have the 3rd season out right now). Then I plan ahead to what I'm going to buy... It's crazy, seriously.

I LOVE TV DVD's and I also love movie DVD's in general. I still buy movies on DVD, but not as much as TV DVD's. In fact, I brought 3 movies last month and none this month.

Now, if somebody from Warner Bros is reading this...

PUT MAMA'S FAMILY ON DVD RIGHT NOW!

And I just had this feeling that when I got home, Id go to tvshowsondvd.com and see a news item for "Saturday Night Live - Season 1".... but, as you know --

I can totally relate to this. Don't you just hate the agony of waiting to hear the news of your favorite tv show coming out on DVD? I know I do. I've been waiting to hear if the complete first season of The Lucy Show will be coming out. So for...no luck. It's driving me crazy! Because I have heard so many good things about that particular season (for example ... "that was one of Lucille Ball's finest seasons ever made") and all which has sparked a large amount of curiosity. Nevertheless, I so want to see the first season of TLS come out very soon!

Its still not here yet, but my wishlist is expanding once again. Shows that I once threw off as "TV-Only" material like Futurama and South Park are soon to be added (but definately not until I get everything else on my wishlist. And -- Ive only been watching for 3 or 4 days, but I like it enough. Yes, the show I always called "the best show I dont like" -- M*A*S*H. Well, after giving it a much deserved second chance, I like it. But, like Futurama and South Park, I wont even start collecting it until I get the rest of my list cleared.

Yeah, I've been going through AITF Season 3 the last few days and loved all the episodes I've seen so far, so I decided to give the 2nd season a try, especially since the Sammy Davis Jr. episode is in season 2. I'm sure I'll end up getting season 1 also. Though you and Miss Vicki gave me nice suggestions concerning my Sonycard points, I decided to use them on Starsky & Hutch season 1, so I've got three sets coming in the mail.

I suspended my AITF viewing to re-watch Good Times seasons 1 & 2 this week in anticipation of season 3 coming out next week.

Today I bought "Sliders: Seasons 1 & 2".

Crappy Packaging

Episodes are in broadcast order, clearly they should be in production order. The stories are intended to be shown in production order.

Not many bonus features.

Great show, however.

A show I'm proud to have in my collection.

Still no "Good Times" however as soon as I find it, it's mine.

I bought yesterday:

Punky Brewster (Season 1)

These will not count as part of my collection only because they are not in season sets or in order. However, I have also bought:

Garfield and Friends (Volume 1, 24 episodes)
The Three Stooges - Goofs on the Loose
The Three Stooges - Stooged and Confoosed

Both of the Stooges DVDs have been colorized. But for those who prefer the black and white shorts, those are included on the DVD as well. All eight shorts are with Curly (as opposed to Shemp and Joe).

That's what I thought when I bought it. However, I checked an episode guide and the order is all messed up. It could be released in production order, I guess. I hope it is the first 24 episodes. However, it doesn't say anywhere that it's the "First 24". I hope I'm proven to be wrong, though.

I love it. Cosby's just a standup genius.
He's the best storyteller of all time, IMO.

And its very obvious that the script for the pilot of TCS relied heavily on this movie.

I can't wait 'till TCS comes to DVD.

An example of my impulsiveness, I had never seen an episode of Family Guy before the four episodes they showed on FOX last night. I don't watch Cartoon Network so I didn't really know much about the type of show it was until I watched last night. Today, I went and picked up Volume 2 (season 3). I would have gotten both volumes but this was the only one they had at the store I went to. Most likely I'll get volume 1 next week, and just hope all the episodes are as funny as the ones they showed last night.

With Futurama - Volume 4 hitting stores next week, Im hoping for a big Futurama/Family Guy/The Simpsons sale at BestBuy or something like that.

They rarely have one of those shows on sale without the other.
If so -- Im definately getting both Family Guy sets, and probably some of Futurama too.

considering the boost in popularity the show has gotten thanks to Cartoon Network as well as DVD... I think that Family Guy's second wind on Fox next year is going to be much more successful in terms of ratings. Cartoon Network has turned that show from a modest animated series to a cult smash.

I think it'll pull in as many if not more than The Simpsons.

Which, on a totally unrelated, yet somewhat related subject -- for fans of Arrested Development, have you ever noticed that its like a live action cartoon?? (not like Looney Tunes kind of cartoon, but along the lines of The Simpsons or Family Guy)

Cool, I got "Lateline - The Complete Series" today, my review should be up either tonight or tomorrow.

I also got "Boy Meets World - Season 1" and "The Munsters - Season 1", but I get a break with those, no need to look out for technical stuff.

Because they're already reviewed. I'll have my Apprentice review up in a day or two. LOTS of bonus features on that one. With that, I watched it when it was on the air so mostly I'm looking for technical stuff, as opposed to episode content. Thanks again for making me think twice about doing reviews. I love the perks.

No problem. I love the perks too, although so far Ive only gotten DVDs I wouldnt have gotten otherwise. But when that Frasier - Final Season DVD comes early, it'll be all worth it.

I always, always, always watch my TVDVDs in order.
But with BMW.... Im jumping right into the commentaries, after I watch the pilot of course (is there a commentary on that??)

Ohh, and I hope Matthew Lawrence being there means they did the commentary for EVERY season at the same time.
Now that would be kickass.

No the pilot doesn't have commentaries, these episodes do:

Cory's Alternative Friends(possibly one of the best Season 1 episodes)

Class Pre-Union

Boy Meets Girl

and the bonus episode from Season 4 Hair Today, Goon Tomorrow

 that would be kick ass

Matthew doesn't even really have a part in the commentaries till the last two, and he doesn't really say much, I actually felt bad, cause he wasn't part of the show then, he really didn't have anything to add :(

That'll be happening for me soon, but thankfully I did consider getting the Apprentice (I like the show) and Touched By An Angel (I like one particular season 1 episode.) But I absolutely was planning on buying American Dreams, so I'm glad I was able to get it this way.

;)

Ohh, and I decided to watch the episodes in order. But I plan on watching the ones with commentary, with commentary the first time.

I don't take my collection for granted, either. I know I'm lucky to have this. And like I've said before, if I didn't still live with my parents, I wouldn't be able to afford them. I pay for them all, but then I don't have any money for the week.

I hope my kids are into TV-DVDs. I plan on giving my collection to them after I die.

I still need to buy:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (3,4,5,6) 7

Sanford and Son (4) 5,6

The X-Files (6,7,8,9)

With all the other DVDs coming out, I just can't afford to buy "The X-Files." I will someday, hopefully.

vashti1999, you'll be VERY happy to know that F&G shipped today (after a very confusing backorder/shipped/backordered again ordeal)

I can't wait!
Hopefully it comes Friday, wouldn't that be nice back-to-school gift for me??

I'm trying to get a better copy. On the one I have, the picture is okay, but the sound is really low and squashed dynamically. It seems like a copy of a copy (someone sent it to me a few years ago).

Yay! For those about to freak and/or geek, I salute you.

In fact, to celebrate the arrival of your Freaks And Geeks set, I'm going to start re-watching the entire series. I was going to anyway, but I decided I'd hold off until your set shipped.
