View Full Version : Insulting Kimmie
Danni 02-06-2004, 07:21 PM The way everyone insulted Kimmie has always bothered me. It is supposed to be such a nice family show but the disrespect they all showed Kimmie was at times shocking. Stephanie was the worst. In every scene with Kimmie she insulted her and often with her father and others right there. They just stood there. I'm not saying Kimmie was an angel or not annoying but it hurt.
Once DJ forgot Kimmies birthday and quickly set up a surprise party and even then Stephanie and the others had to make jokes at her expense. They even let Michelle get in on it.
Just my feelings. :(

I know man. She's always rude to the family. Why dosen't DJ get a new friend?
Dilly 02-07-2004, 05:37 AM If you guys think it's okay to insult a young girl just because she's different than you are SICK!
I agree 100% with Danni. That aspect of the show was terrible. I give DJ credit for being sweet in a world full of LOSERS like you
two.

WELL KIMMY IS WEIRD
G-Force Glockstar 02-07-2004, 10:31 AM KIMMY ALWAYS INSULTS STEPHANIE. SO WHAT IS STEPHANIE SUPPOSE TO DO?? I THINK KIMMY IS RUDE TO THE TANNERS! SHE ALWAYS CALLS DANNY "MR. T." AND HE GETS REALLY ANNOYED.
AND IN THE EPISODE "FOGGED IN', KIMMY TOLD DANNY SHE IS ALLERGIC TO THESE THINGS AND 6 YEAR OLDS (WHEN STEPHANIE WAS 6).
STEPHANIE JUST SAID "DON'T LOOK AT ME, I'M 6 AND 3 QUARTERS"
I DON'T FIND THE TANNERS MEAN TO KIMMY. THEY ONLY TRY TO GET HER BACK.
KIMMY IS PRETTY RUDE. I WONDER WHY DJ LIKES HER.
Vegas Girl 02-09-2004, 06:26 PM Kimmy is very disrespectful to Danny Tanner. When Becky was promoted and he wasn't, Kimmy had to rub it in and make him feel worse. She called him String Bean. She made fun of his clothes, etc.
G-Force Glockstar 02-09-2004, 06:51 PM Kimmy was rude! She always annoyed Danny by calling him "Mr. T." She probably said that about 50 times!
tgc225 02-09-2004, 11:31 PM It did seem, however, that sometimes Danny was a bit out of character in insulting Kimmy. I mean, Stephanie broke the kitchen wall and DJ broke the television and he was still the nice guy about it as he was always portrayed to be. But he seemed to have no problem getting into those insult matches with Kimmy.
8FF09 02-12-2004, 04:41 PM I don't think that Kimmy and Danny hated each other. And I don't think Jesse and Kimmy hated each other.I think that they were all just jokes, meant to make you laugh, I don't think they actually HATED her.
hughpuppies 02-14-2004, 03:48 AM I like the one episode where Stephanie, Michelle, DJ, Kimmie, and Danny were all upstairs in a bedroom and Stephanie says Kimmie your so dumb and Kimmie says I am not and Stephanie says you are to spell dumb and Kimmie says dum and Stephanie says there is a b and Kimmie says where where waving her hand I hate them and runs out of the room.
dynoguy88 02-14-2004, 11:47 AM Stephanie and Kimmie were kids, it shouldn't be surprising to see them going back and forth with the insults.
The entire family, with the exception of D.J. of course, never really liked Kimmie but I don't think they actually HATED her either. They just got really annoyed with her.
Michelle, as she got older and more annoying, even got in the act with Kimmie. As much as Michelle bugged the *%$^ out of me, she did slam her pretty creatively in the episode where Kimmie pierces Stephanie's ears......
(Michelle is sitting at the table in the bedroom with Comet, then Steph and Kimmie walk in) --
STEPH: Michelle, Kimmie and I need some privacy.
MICHELLE: But I have a guest.
STEPH: Your guest drinks from the toilet.
MICHELLE: So does yours.
Vegas Girl 02-14-2004, 11:51 AM I don't remember that line at all...
Michelle also insulted Gia.
G-Force Glockstar 02-14-2004, 12:04 PM I remember that line.
It was from the episode "I'm not DJ"
The one where Stephanie lets Kimmy pierce her ears, then her ears get infected.
shannon05 02-14-2004, 09:20 PM just remember...ITS A SHOW....she isnt weird in real life..they insulted her on the show so the audience could get some laughs!

Yeah.I've got to admit that I didn't like Kimmie at first and she wasn't great to look at,but she did get to be a pretty girl as the show went on and I loved the scenes with she & Stephanie where they insulted each other

 I haven't signed into this site since exactly 10-13-2004. I got an email saying someone replied to my post. How did you end up finding this thread? Lol, either way I agree, her and Stephanie always had some good scenes together.
thetornado 07-01-2008, 04:07 AM I liked Kimmy especially in the later seasons especially the scenes with her and stephanie.
DTF955 07-11-2008, 08:32 PM Kimmy was the toughest character, almost, to figure out for the Chronology - I mean, it was kind of easy to imagine, in a real life situation, that Danny=depressed over losing Pam; D.J.=typical older sister who takes charge when parental units fail, does so behidn the scenes, and gets mroe stressed in times we see because of it; Joey=Peter Pan Syndrome, *possibly* though it was never explored in any fics) suffering from mild emotional abuse from his dad (I mean, the way he suddenly stood up so straight after hearing his dad's voice for 20 years just seemed...odd)
In trying to make things realistic and put on a timeline a few episodes were tweaked, a few had certain things not happen (cement mixer in early season 7, kitchen perfect a few days later), one ("A House Divided") was ruled a dream by overwhelming majority consensus, etc.
But, it almost couldn't be done with Kimmy. She was either so totally slow that she would have been in Special Ed. and not in D.J.'s classes, or she was just making a lot of it up and just really weird, or something. And the teasing...yes, I agree, it made little sense. It's one reason I love the books, where there is no teasing.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, even as a Chronology writer/editor I had to admit defeat a little with Kimmy. basicallya dmit that she was a little slow, made up some of her dumbness (like "What time is the 6:00 news) so pepole might think she was joking at other times, was just extra weird...and about the only thing in the entire series not explained is the teasing after season one. Every other nook and cranny between, before, and after them was, thanks to many good fans, including the Book Universe.
Season one's is explain by Kimmy bringing a bag of coal over for Stephanie as a gag gift for Christmas. D.J. heads this off int he books, I figured. This would make Stephanie say she hates her later in season 1, but it wears off to mere annoyance at each other later. Danny & Jesse don't tease her as much in earlier seasons, I figure because she was such a good friend to D.J. after Pam's death.
But, frankly, it's one more reason to love the books.
The full Chronology is still available at places in my sig (where the complete updated version is only at the websites mentioned, not the yahoo groups). It is also available at fullhosuechron @ aol.com the full story what we did in handling Kimmy, and many other things, is there.
Schmoopie 07-13-2008, 08:27 AM She was annoying at first but then I started to like her. One of my favorite episodes is where DJ forgot Kimmy's 16th birthday because of her 6 month anniversary with Steve and they threw that "fake" birthday part. The sad thing was that Kimmy didn't even realize that it was thrown together until Steve pointed it out!

Blossom 07-28-2008, 08:48 PM Besides Joey, Kimmy was the most one of a kind character (in both good and bad ways), the insulting "game" between her and the Tanners/Jesse went to unrealistic levels at some points but can mostly be seen as:
Steph - Kimmy: in some ways they enjoyed fighting (see "The Prying Game" ep). And mostly kept it to minor insults. I guess the ep "The Devil Made Me Do It" says the most, because it looked like they both wanted to be important to DJ and be with her. Kimmy could do it as a friend, while never be number 1 (Steph was DJs sister after all), but at the same time DJ could just forbid Steph to be with them (she was many years younger, DJ was not obligated to let Steph tag along as much as she did in s5 - mid-7).
So I guess they never really cared about to get to know each other, because their sole thing in common was DJ. But remember that they never fought openly over DJ. I also think that they reached a top in their fighting in the mid- seasons. There it looked like they could actually begin a minor "war", forcing DJ to choose between them. And in the ep stated above DJ was angry with them, and once and for all put an end to that scenario. And as they got older they mostly kept their arguments to minor things. I therefore think that the creators wanted them to have a non- friendship but at the same time have them interact with each other. Small insults was a good way to do that (remember that Becky and Joey very seldom interacted with Kimmy, they could have done the same thing with Steph but as I said, wanted the two of them to interact).
Also, in the closing seasons Steph hang out with Gia, thus resulting in less time with DJ and Kimmy, and then they got along better (s8 Kimmy more or less had no complains about helping Steph and Gia in "Stephanies Wild Ride", she asked why she and DJ should help Steph lie, and then traded silence for a week of non-insults from Steph, but I got the feeling that she could have got along with the lie regardless of Stephs "offer"). In s7 ep "Is it true about Stephanie?" she outright offered Steph help when Gia made her life hard (therefore even before Steph found a regulare friend).
And the biggest thing between them, when they worked together they really got along. First at a very young age (when Kimmy was an excellent baby-sitter for Steph and toddler Michelle) and then in "The Prying Game" (and interesting also because they there openly proclaimed that they enjoyed "fighting") and "We got the beat" when they had to play in the same pop-band.
Oboy, that was much text... I shall only point out Kimmys relationship to the others (mainly Danny and Jesse):
Yes, Kimmy was not very nice to them, but at the same time they payed her back with the same coins. I think this is one of the bad parts of FH, while the Steph - Kimmy things are pretty realistic I find it harder to see why neither Danny and Jesse or Kimmy openly said "let´s put an end to this". As adults Danny and Jesse should have made clear that they didn´t accepted her behavior, or Kimmy should have realised that she didn´t benefitted from keeping insulting them (at least if she wanted to feel welcome in her best friends house/around her best friends family).
I find it hard to belive that Danny and Jesse accepted as much as they did, or that any non-autistic child should be so openly irritating to adults (well the child could be outright mean but Kimmy was strange, not mean). And autism is a mental dissorder, and the childs behavior is understandable, Kimmys behavior towards Danny and Jesse was not.
When it comes to Kimmy and Michelle they only insulted each other a few times, mainly because they seldom hang out together. Instead it looked like Michelle and Gia did the Steph - Kimmy thing on a much smaller level (and I suppose that when Gia became better behaved they didn´t had to keep up with that either).
So there is my thoughts on the Kimmy vs. Tanner insulting subject.
Chain Gang Member 08-07-2008, 10:34 AM I liked Kimmy especially in the later seasons especially the scenes with her and stephanie.
I also liked the scene with Jesse & Kimmie locked in oe of the rooms where he apologized to Kimmie for onsulting her earlier in th episode
