View Full Version : Slightly OT - WE's New Ned & Stacey Commercial

Am I the only one who hates the new WE commercial that portrays Stacey as smart, powerful, etc. and Ned as dumb?
First of all, any N&S fan knows that Stacey is a big, lazy, unsuccessful ditz.
Second of all, they take the really funny scene from "Sleepless in Manhattan" where Ned says "'We'? 'WE'?!? What is this word 'we' that you bandy about? Stacey, there is no 'we' there's a 'you' and there's a 'me', occasionally there's an 'us' but there is NEVER a 'WE'!", they cut it off so he just says "WE?" blankly and the stupid female announcer says "That's right buddy...".
Ugh... I hate WE because they totally contradict the fact that 'Ned and Stacey' is really about Ned's life, but Ned just happened to marry Stacey to advance HIS career. She just married him for his apartment and he really dislikes her, as apposed to loving her, which WE seems to think that romance is a key plot of the series.
I feel that 'Ned and Stacey' would be more at home on SpikeTV. Seriously.

At least Nick @ Nite knows that Lowell Mather is an airplane mechanic... I've got to hand that to them.

I can't wait to see how WE uses 'Ned and Stacey' to promote Thomas Haden Church's next film 'Sideways' when it comes out... not.

They probably only show N&S because Debra Messing is on Will and Grace. Like in their "Coming up next" commercial they always promote it as Stacey's show.

I've searched up many articles from the 1990s about 'Ned and Stacey' and they always said that it was Thomas Haden Church's show. Somehow Debra Messing ended up as the favorite and I can't really understand why, really, her comedy characters are all the same. I just don't see any versatility... I feel that she's a bit typecast. I can't comment on her movie roles, since I've only seen that 'Mothman' movie she was in, and of course she wasn't in it for very long.
I think everybody really likes 'Will and Grace' because of the characters Jack and Karen. That's the whole reason why I watch the show, actually.

Grace is every bit like Stacey, maybe except she doesn't have Stacey's credit problems.

Actually, I am surprised that WE hasn't done a "Crush-Worthy" commercial featuring Ned, Pete, Burg and misty Adobe Photoshop overlays with lense flair in Slo-Mo-Vision.

I guess that calling the show "Ned and Stacey" would make it mutual billing and both of them own the show, but I've always associated N&S with Thomas Haden Church in the same way I and every one else has always associated "Wings" with Tim Daly and Steven Weber.
