Have you ever noticed that the entire 2 part episode filmed in Hawaii that it is cloudy? Every outdoor shot , even the beach scenes, it is overcast? So how did Naomi ever get such a bad sunburn? And there are a few references to the sun. But I never saw a sunny day!   Just thought that I'd point that out! :D

I heard somewhere (It's probably in one of the old threads here, or Vicki's book) that it actually took three weeks to film both Hawaii episodes, and it rained every day the whole time they were in Hawaii!

Yep, I posted that in the thread about me meeting Barney Martin. He told me that.

That makes sense! It's obvious that they couldn't get a sunny day which is rare in Hawaii. Not a blooper, just bad luck!:(

Is it just me or was that episode jump-the-shark material? Thank God the show didn't really go downhill after that.

Hawaii is close enough to the equator to qualify for that...so yep.

Oh, I liked that episode! And I don't really think it was that far-fetched enough to be jump-the-shark material(well, maybe winning a trip for four after getting second place on Jeopardy was a little iffy! A trip for two maybe.), and it didn't come out of left-field either, as Mama had mentioned her dream of going to Hawaii in several episodes and she finally got it!

But you're right, the show never did really go downhill.

Does anyone know why MeTV skips the Hawaii episodes?

Interesting. I did not know that. I see the episodes on Logo.

Going back to the original post 21 years ago, you do not need a sunny day to get sunburn. The sun's rays can still burn you. Its a myth otherwise. I got bad sunburn on an island in the Bahamas once and it was totally overcast and I thought the same thing that no sun = no sunscreen. Big mistake.

I usually don't like vacation episodes away from the main location of most series, but these were pretty good.

As soon as I mention it, they are airing it this Sunday during a vacation-episodes stunt.

Ha ha. That's funny. Maybe someone on that network reads this board.

even on a cloudy day you can get sunburn, especially if your idiot husband (let's call him Vint lol) rubs bath lotion on your body instead of suntan lotion.

Yes, I've always heard you can get a sunburn on a cloudy day. I guess those rays make it thru and we just don't see them.
