My dog died :( I've had little ol' sport for 12 years. My folks got him for me when I was 7 years old. He has been real sick the past couple of days, couldn't move and hardly ate or drank. I just assumed it was because the weather was soo cold here that it was his arthritis (sp) getting to him. Then yesterday I noticed his eyes were going black. A few days ago I got a box and filled it up with old coats and let him stay in the shed (which is a big no no the the bill collector , but he was my doggy). I woke up this morning and he was just laying there, dead, in a pool of blood and urine. I guess he has a hemarige (sp) and died. He must of had cancer :( Jonathan buried him out by the tree :'(

I know how difficult it is to lose a pet, especially pets that have been a part of the family for so long. My dog, Sugar died a year ago. He had a tumor also. We got him when I was in grade school. When he got older, he began to bleed everytime he went #2. It was scary to watch, and digusting to clean up, but we all loved him! It was difficult for me to watch him pass away, but I never left him that day :) I miss him, and think about him often. We haven't gotten a new pet since his passing, not sure when we will. I really want another pet though. I will pray for you.

That is awful. I am really sorry.

A few months ago my cat [who was really old] was having trouble walking. She couldn't even use her back legs. She would just lie there unresponsive. and she had this dead look in her eyes. So we took her to the vet and it turned out she had brain damage and there was nothing they could do. They had to put her to sleep and I stayed with her and held her and petted her as they did it. I was really sad, but I was glad that she didn't have to suffer anymore.

Sport doesn't have to live in pain anymore and you don't have to live in pain either because seeing him suffer was very painful for you. It will be okay. I know it's hard now but it will get better in time.

I'm getting tears in my eyes just reading all your posts.

Jo, I am so very sorry for your loss. I have 4 dogs and one of them is almost 16. She's doing pretty good, but I don't know how I'm going to take it when she does go, same with my other dogs.

Like Vera Wang wrote, at least he isn't suffering anymore.

:dog:

He's in a place where he can run all through the fields and eat all the milkbones he wants!!

OMG, I'm gonna cry, too! :crying:

I'm so sorry. :( I don't know what I'll do when my dog dies. I can't imagine how terrible that must be. At least he isn't suffering, though. :bighug:

:( :( :( I'm so, so sorry. It's such a hard thing to go through. My house has always been full of pets, and we've lost many through the years - but it doesn't get any easier.

I'm so sorry to hear of your dog's death. I've been thru this many times. It's never easy. Sometimes I'll think about them and get teary eyed even though they've been gone for along time. I miss them all. But Sport and all of are departed pets are in a better place.

I'm really sorry to hear about Sport. :( It's really hard to lose a pet you've had for a long time. You never lose the memories though, I think about my dogs pretty much everyday and they've been gone ten years.

Exactly. I wish people would stop telling others how and what to post or not post. I don't even do that.

As long as someone isn't violating any rules, nobody, including myself, should be reprimanding anyone.

My dog Sparkel (don't worry, she didn't die) was a female and she kept running away, and everytime she did, she came back pregnant. (This happended about 4 times). Everytime she had a litter of pups, something was always wrong with them and most of them would die. She had about 4 litter of puppies for the past 5 years, and everytime some would turn out sick and died when we got too attatched to them. We couldn't afford to get Sparkel's tubes tied so she could stop having pups, so we gave her away because we were tired of taking care of sick puppies. And it was expensive having dogs.
