In a previous thread I mentioned that my cousin was having surgery to remove a cancerous tumor that is wrapped around his organs and that he was having problems with one of his arms so surgery was delayed for about a month.
His surgery is now scheduled for Feb 5th and he needs all the prayers he can get.
As I said before this operation is very risky because all of his organs have to be removed to get to the tumor. We are hoping that he will not die during this operation and that in surviving this operation that he can be cured of Hodgkins Disease and go on with the rest of his life. So please add my cousin to your prayers, he really needs them.

I will pray for him. That sounds like a scary operation for him and the people who love him. I hope it goes well.

I will be thinking of him. My thoughts with you and your family. I hope everything goes well. I'm sure that it will because with all of the advances in medicine and technology I am sure that he is in great hands. :)

It sounds like a very long and gruesome surgery, and I will pray for you and your family tonite. Everything will be fine. :)

He went into surgery at 7:30 AM and the surgery was expected to take 12-20 hours. There was 5 teams of doctors each team specialized in a different area of medicine.
They removed part of his lung and the part of the tumor that was next to his heart just peeled away like in was never attached.
Another team of doctors had to open his esophogus (where the cancer started) but when they opened it they found that the cancer was wrapped all around his vocal cords and they couldn't remove any of it so they closed him up and they can't go any farther with the surgery.
He is going to be so disapointed when he wakes up because his will to live was that they could do this and he would be cancer free.
So please continue to pray that there may be another way to remove the cancer from his esophogus.

Ya know, I hate to say this, but I usually forget about the people I've been asked to pray for when they tell me too. I'll say a prayer or two, but that's it. I dunno, for some reason, *shrugs* I came home and I made sure I checked this topic. I remembered that your cousin was having the surgery today. Maybe it's just b/c I'm so close with my cousins or there's been illness in my family recently too, who knows. But let me tell you, I was genuinely disappointed when I read that the surgery was not successful. I REALLY hope your cousin's alright...I'll be thinking about you. Make sure to keep us updated.

The doctors gave my cousin 1 month to a year to live. They said he is a hopeless cause because he can't be cured. We're praying to Father Solanus Casey who has to perform one more miracle and cure a hopeless cause to be canonized a saint.
When he woke up his wife was supposed to tell him his options which are take a pill that will make him really sick, go through a big chemo which will make him really sick or do nothing. When he said his arm still hurt and she didn't have the heart to tell him that the doctors couldn't do anything.

That's really awful. I'll pray that everything works out somehow. :(
