Eddie Haskell 01-30-2004, 08:01 AM Cool...........I have no idea what you're talking about....I love when that happens; it makes me feel so old. :D Saiyan ChiChi 01-30-2004, 11:25 AM I love anime. Inuyasha and DBZ are my favorites, vashti1999 01-30-2004, 01:01 PM A couple friends of mine like anime, but that style of animation doesn't appeal to me much. I could never get into it. ClassicComedyFan2 01-30-2004, 05:53 PM I'm a huge Pokemon fan, as well as a big fan of the short-lived Tokyo Pig! I also like Hamtaro, Sailor Moon, Kirby, Sonic X, Beyblade, Medabots, Yu-Gi-Oh, Speed Racer and a couple of other animes! But back to the original question.... definately NOT. ClassicTV4Ever 02-13-2004, 08:15 PM Originally posted by *FullHouse4life* It depends really. Like is it funny anime(like simpsons or Family Guy), or dumb so predictable anime(like Kim Possible). Those shows are definitely not anime. Some examples of anime include Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Akira, and tons and tons others. I'm not a huge fan of anime. The only shows I really like are the Macross Saga of Robotech and Voltron. Brian Damage 02-15-2004, 12:27 PM It depends. I liked Ghost in the Shell, Voltron and some others. storrs19 09-11-2004, 01:26 AM I LOVE Anime! Especially DBZ and I am not sure but is Teknoman Anime? I really like Ruroni Kenshin to. Pretty much anything that involves a special power theme centered around one character or a small circle of characters with unfathomable powers appeals to me. damin mance 09-19-2004, 03:36 PM sure i love anime i sure love betterman that anime is very cool Mikado 07-09-2005, 03:05 AM None of those shows you mentioned are anime. But back to the original question.... definately NOT. hehe technically ANY animated show would be called anime....IN JAPAN; but here in North America, anime refers to animation done orig for the Japanese market. Most of what you see on TV here is very censored and cut up, i prefer anime the natural way , in Japanese with subtitles, but, if you hate to read, Inuyasha is the closest thing to pure anime you can find here...Rumiko Takahashi RULES! :D Grayman 08-06-2005, 08:30 PM Absolutely not. Anime has literally diseased animation in American cartoons. Anime animation is "stiff", unimaginative, emotionless, sloppy, and lazy. It does nothing to bring adequate life or emotional appeal to the characters, nor does it help to accentuate the physical inflections of the characters in most cases. I hate watching anime characters standing in one place with no other part of their bodies moving when they're talking except their mouths, and that's usually in a singular up and down motion. No emotions; no inflections. There's basically nothing fluid about anime characters, their animation more like portraying people having seizures or drooling, hysterical fits than expressing true emotion. Dialogue is important, but personal and physical body movement is also a huge part of translating a story across to the viewer, especially in an animated series. If you like good animation then keep it "American" IMO, such as Justice League or a new, up-and-coming series named W.I.T.C.H., which does have some anime influences, but overall, is a great featured animated show. As for Teen Titans, what an incredibly sad rendition of probably the best comic book super hero team ever assembled in the '80's. The way the TT's have been portrayed on Cartoon Network in such a bungling, ridiculous, inane, and campy manner is truly a travesty to say the least. It makes me shake my head in complete desparation that Cartoon Network couldn't offer us a serious portrayal of the Teen Titans instead of the abomination that currently airs an that channel. Dialogue is important, but personal and physical body movement is also a huge part of translating a story across to the viewer, especially in an animated series. . >>>Well, Anime is based on the idea that a fan can understand more than an anvil hitting someone on the head, and displays proper storytelling If you like good animation then keep it "American" IMO, such as Justice League or a new, up-and-coming series named W.I.T.C.H., which does have some anime influences, but overall, is a great featured animated show.. >>>Closed-minded, arent we? Mikado AH! We've now evolved to the "dissect their post" phase of the debate now! I knew I didn't have long to wait; and just when I thought this discussion was growing stagnant. ;) Close-minded because I'm not impressed with monotonous unoriginality, banal storylines, and one-dimensional animation? It's a matter of opinion Mikado. I believe offering a more indepth critique and expectancy of anime animation hardly indicates "close-mindedness", but actually demonstrates a higher appreciation for it's evolvement potential beyond it's present stagnant and flacid existance. The intuitive aspect of this is what indulges the actual stimulation for entertainment potential of a veiwer watching an animated series as compared to not accepting what could be a much better product. Insinuating "close-mindedness" of another seems to me to be an indicator that being easily satisfied is a prerequisite of acceptance for your entertainment needs. I think on more expanded, broader terms I suppose. No offense intended of course. Take care, it was enjoyable debating with you. Mikado 08-08-2005, 10:22 PM You call that a debate, shutting out any real knowledge of the subject? As for easilly satisfied, what makes you think you know anything about me? Man' you take sanctimoniousness to a higher level and frankly, you havent explained how youre on a higher plane of entertainment; in my opinion, a bunch of unbelieveably over-muscular human-like hybrids in spandex underwear pondering their existances isn't particularly intellectual. But, as I said in the other post, theres no point talking to someone whos obviously SO into himself, and believes to know all the answers in the universe. Go be free and let me be free of YOU !
