you seriously don't think U2, R.E.M., The Pretenders, Pet Shop Boys (yea they were all electronic, but they showed some depth as they matured as artists), The Cure, Sting/The Police, Depeche Mode (same deal as with PSB, electronic but mature) or the sort were any good at all?

I am shocked anyone who grew up in the 80's actually prefers 90's and todays music. Just about every 20-something and early 30's I know thinks back to the 80's as "man, that was when music was GOOD"

One of my all-time favorite songs--Save a Prayer-Duran Duran
Girls on Film, Planet Earth, Rio, Is There Something I Should Know?--all Duran. I guess pretty much anything from them

We Got the Beat, Vacation, Our Lips Are Sealed-The Go-Go's

Dance Hall Days-Wang Chung
Whip It-Devo
Careless Whisper, Everything She Wants, Freedom-Wham!

Space Age Love Song, Stop the World(and melt with you)-Flock of Seagulls

Shadows of the Night-Pat Benatar
It's My Life-Talk Talk
Let's Go Crazy-Prince

Actually, I love all 80's music. There's just something about that musical era, I can't explain. I think it was and is all so great.

not quite, I think most people associate the hair metal acts with the late 1980's. I'd say Guns N Roses are just as defined as an 80's act (tho also for the early 90's too I think) as something like Culture Club or Eurythmics were.

And what might be surprising, I used to LOVE heavy metal. I have never limited my tastes to one genre, even tho I confess I cannot get into rap for the life of me tho I have tried, and when I liked Duran Duran and Culture Club, I also was listening to Def Leppard and Twisted Sister. And I actually would put both Metallicas And Justice For All and Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion I and II among my top 100 or so fave albums, as would I list Pyromania and Hysteria, and Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood isn't too far away from my list. I also loved the No More Tears, Blizzard Of Oz and Diary Of A Madman albums by Ozzy (even tho my all time favorite Ozzy song is one he now disowns, Shot In The Dark)

yeah, i was just referring to 80's pop music though; when you mention 80's music, the metal stuff is not what most people would associate with the term

When I hear "80's music", I think of metal, seeing as 80's metal is my favorite kind of music. Appetite For Destruction is in my top 5 albums, as is Blizzard of Oz. I suppose is just depends on the type of music the person prefers.
