I've been online since around late 1998, but I still remember my first few visits into cyber space. I felt so overwhelmed, excited and (for a while) rather confused by it all.

I think the first webpage I ever went on was the official site for James Cameron's "Titanic" when the movie had barely come out. I remember that site was the most visited site online. Then I remember running searchs for stuff I remembered from my childhood like favourite shows/movies/cartoons and being amazed at some of the fan sites I found.

One thing that makes me laugh was how paranoid I used to be about giving out personal information online. I refused to even give out my email address to people let alone my real first name or general location. LOL. I've learned that while there are pyscho's out there, there are also many kind, wonderful people who I would've missed out on knowing had it not been for the internet.

Despite all the scare stories in the media and all the sick stuff with p*rn that you keep hearing about, I think the internet is one of the best things to have happened. :)

How about you? Thoughts? Memories? I'd like to hear them. :)

Overwhelmed. I wanted to look at everything all at once. All I wanted to do was look up stuff for Happy Days.

I was confused. Mostly because it went so slowly

I was really little. :o I do remember that the only thing I wanted to do was play games...cool sites didn't really interest me much. And a message board? Never! :D

I used to go to my friends' houses and use the internet because my parents had no need for it, but when we finally got it I was (and still am) the only one who knows how to go about using it.

I've been using the internet since 1994, almost 10 years now. I remember being really fascinated...I would look up Calvin & Hobbes pages because I LOVED the comic strip...Oh, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas stuff, too...

I don't have the kind of memory that allows me to remember stuff like that.

I wasn't really interested. I talked to my friends and stuff, but our first computer was so slow, we couldn't go to websites or anything because it would take so long. Then we got a new computer, I found this damn website, and now I can't get off.

We got a computer in 2000. But I didn't start on the net until 1995 and found out loads of information. But now, you have all the information that will take you probably years and years of reading!! Played computers before the internet craze hit by playing NFL games and got pysched up by the net at college then I went to play at my local library and now I have the net at home. Love it! Love it! :) :D

I thought it was the greatest thing ever, and a lot of my friends had it before I did so whenever I went over that's what I always wanted to do, was go on the internet. I was an annoying kid. I've had it for about three years now, though.

I got my first home computer in 1995 and got AOL right away. It was frustratingly slow, but I still loved it. Now my system is superfast.

I can't imagine life without the internet.

I started going online in 1998 but first heard about it in 95' when a co-worker was telling me about it. I didn't understand half of what she was talking about. When I got my first computer and started going online myself in 98' I, like many of you, was overwhelmed by it all. There were so many things I wanted to look up. I agree that the internet is one of the greatest inventions.

I was really into looking up I Love Lucy stuff, I think that's all I ever did on the Internet. I was also really paranoid about giving out personal information, I always said I was Alexis from South Carolina.

I remember when the Internet was just this abstract idea that everyone referred to as the Information Superhighway and I thought the idea of this vast network of information shared over computers seemed rather futuristic. The first time I used the internet was when one of the girls in my dorm showed me how it worked. (I could only do telnet email on my computer.) I don't even remember the website but I do remember thinking, wow this is really cool.

I didnt think much of the net at first because I accessed it thru a local BBS,so the internet looked the same as all the dial up sites I went to on my Commodore...

Yes it was in 1996, and I thought I'd never learn to use it. We were on a plan where you had to pay to use it, so my time on line was very limited. I was about 15 and my parents would give me about an hour per night on it, through dial-up, we had call-waiting, so there were frequent BUMPS from the internet and having to reconnect

Yes which dialing *70 (1170) stopped that from happening!
