I think I've always missed this, how does Roseanne end up leaving the beauty shop?

I don't see what was so demeaning and degrading about that job. I mean Roseanne was just a waitress at a fried chicken shop and her boss was a 17 year old! Thats a lot more degrading. So, she sweeps and washes hair. I'll never understand what was so degrading about that.

I agree, I just think her charactor was very frustrated. I wish she would have continued the beauty parlor as her job, I don't know why they dropped it. Espessialy so subtly.

This thread is really old, but I'm bringing it back to life, I am curious what was the last episode they showed her working in the Beauty Parlor, and I'm thinking she quit when she got the job at the mall. I actually like her working at the mall with Bonnie more then working at that Beauty Parlor. Not to mention I hated her hair when she worked there.

I agree. I hated the beauty parlor scenes.

yeah, it seems like there really wasn't alot of material there...and if there was they didn't use it much, but there wasn't. The only good parts were when mrs. welman kept calling her "Roxanne" and the parts with the little whiny blonde girl, other than that, it really wasn't verry funny.

The last episode we see Roseanne working at the beauty shop is in the season 2 finale, Happy Birthday. They bring out a dessert for her with a candle in it. In the season 3 episode, Like a New Job, Roseanne starts working at the diner. They never specifically state why she left, but in that episode Dan says, "sure beats sweeping up hair at that beauty shop." Roseanne had said the job was degrading, sweeping up hair and shampooing heads. She just didn't want to work there forever. Additionally, Dogma made the comment about the fast food restaurant being more degrading. But she was fired from the fast food restaurant. She didn't quit that job and go on to the beauty salon and start talking about then how degrading the beauty salon was.
