View Full Version : Lucie Arnaz I Love Carol Burnett! 01-26-2004, 03:25 PM I got an autograph picture from Lucie Arnaz today SPLAIN 01-27-2004, 10:08 AM Congratulations, it's very nice. I like stars who bother to answer fan mail and personalize the pictures with nice replies. I Love Carol Burnett! 01-27-2004, 10:12 AM Me too. She also sent me a brief biography of herself. It was the only thing in my mail-box I was so excited this is my 12th autographed picture!!!!!!!!!! SPLAIN 01-27-2004, 02:26 PM Can we ask who the other ones are? I'd like to find out which stars are nice enough to bother. I Love Carol Burnett! 01-27-2004, 02:34 PM Sure I'll tell ya. Tim Conway (It said To Jonathan (My #1 Fan with Best Wishes) Betty White (To Jonathan Many Thanks for watching.) Nancy McKean on the Divison Board and Facts of Life bOard Betty Garret on Laverne and Shirley BoardBea Arthur Maude Board and Golden Girls Board SPLAIN 01-27-2004, 03:03 PM Wow, what an impressive group, i'd like to have a few of those myself. Just saw Betty White on Ellen at lunchtime and she has still got it, the closest thing to Lucy there is. I heard Bea Arthur could be rude to fans, this proves that theory wrong and i love that. I guess every star is allowed an off moment now and then, but you were very lucky to get all of those, great stars. You should keep your collection going, those will be worth serious money some day, not to mention the sentimental value, many of those people won't be around much longer. And you'll always have a part of them with you forever. Whatever you do, don't give any away, that's what i did with the one i had of Lucy. And i will always regret it. SPLAIN 01-27-2004, 04:24 PM Exactly, besides i always assumed it had been signed by a secretary anyway, i never thought the Queen of Comedy had actually been told about my 18 page rambling letter and took the time to autograph a photo and send it to me, that was more than enough, you're right. The day i got it and for years afterwards, i was thrilled to have it, now i live with that great memory forever. bb25 01-28-2004, 12:46 AM Splain, you said "nice enough to bother". Well, when writing to celebrities, you generally write a letter and send a SASE, so they're pretty much obligated to respond. It would be rude if they didn't. It's not like you write a letter and just hope they send a photo....you write with the intention of getting a photo... I'm going to start my collection with Vicki Lawrence's soon :) HuntingtonM15 01-28-2004, 12:51 AM Originally posted by bb25 It's not like you write a letter and just hope they send a photo....you write with the intention of getting a photo... Actually, a lot of times, that's exactly what it's like. I've sent out hundreds of requests over the past 5 years (sometimes providing my own item for them to sign), and there have been MANY times when I haven't received a thing. SPLAIN 01-28-2004, 10:23 AM I agree, the tabloids show that all the time, they write to these major stars and most of them never respond, only the classiest do. Like that guy from Leno, Ross the intern, he was at the Golden Globes and asked the celebrities to come and chat on the Tonight show, only Clint Eastwood did and Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, one other director from tv whose name escapes me. All the other big names there wizzed by and could not be bothered to stop for 30 seconds and lower themselves to talk to this guy and that turns me off those stars immediately. The type of star who thinks their you know what don't stink and can't be bothered signing autographs or mingling with common folk are certainly no favorites of mine. Kazza 01-28-2004, 12:55 PM Thanks for sharing that Jonathan:wave: How much time it took since the time you wrote to the time she answered? :) I Love Carol Burnett! 01-28-2004, 12:57 PM Originally posted by I'maDESIlover Thanks for sharing that Jonathan:wave: How much time it took since the time you wrote to the time she answered? :) October 16, 2003 - January 26, 2004 SPLAIN 01-28-2004, 03:00 PM That's the time it usually takes, these people are always out of town on tours or in shows, so they lack time to do it sooner. bb25 02-03-2004, 09:14 PM You mean there's been some stars who don't even respond to SASE requests? Also, Jen Aniston on Matt LeBlanc took the time to sign autographs at the Golden Globes, which I really admire. Those two just went up on my list...:) SPLAIN 02-04-2004, 10:35 AM I know what you mean, i thought the same thing when i saw them and Jennifer Lopez also. And look at the I Love Lucy board, Dawsongirl sent a request to Richard Dawson and says it's been a year of her waiting for a reply. And let's face it, he can't be getting THAT many requests at this stage of his life. HuntingtonM15 02-19-2004, 10:07 PM Originally posted by bb25 You mean there's been some stars who don't even respond to SASE requests? There's been MANY stars who don't even respond to SASE requests. SPLAIN 02-20-2004, 10:53 AM And we should dump all of those ungrateful bums. Ever see Ross the intern from Jay Leno's Tonight show do interviews at award shows? He gets the same treatment, some of these people are much too BIG to lower themselves to talk to a mere mortal! sally mander 02-20-2004, 11:32 AM I have read once that many stars usually have their personal staff sign photos/ respond with letters to fans who sent them fan mail. However Lucie Arnaz, I can see taking the time to actually sign a photo for a fan. Today's stars (Ben Afflick, J LO, Drew Barrymore, Colin Farell, etc..) I would not hold my breath. Unless you happen to be a hot hunk/babe they want to take to their room, I can't imagine Colin signing an autograph for someone who is overwieght. Same goes for stars that are into "business" and news. My parents saw Dick Clark and Geraldo Rivera a few years back. Not together but at the same place. They walked up to both guys and asked for an autograph. Not only did both flat out refused but one of them told my mom to "f*ck off"!!. We need more Lucie Arnaz'es in the world. SPLAIN 02-20-2004, 12:13 PM Which one said that? The producer of stinky shows or the news media whore? joan davis fan 02-20-2004, 05:57 PM Originally posted by SPLAIN Which one said that? The producer of stinky shows or the news media whore? If you ever get a chance to see the Michael Moore film "Bowling for Columbine" and see how Dick Clark acted in the film when he being asked about a shooting of a child and whose mother had to work overtime at one of his restaurants, he just couldn't care less. Its been mentioned on this and other sites and there have been interviews over the years from those conneected to him saying how Clark is not exactly a nice man and is known to act cold to others (watch some episodes of his games shows, its hard NOT to miss). I can see Clark telling someone off like that. I am wating for a tell-all book about the real Dick Clark, and people are shocked at Martha Stewart's attitudes, hmmmm. On a similar note, had a neighbor who once told me that she tried to get some big baseball player's autograph. Forgot the name she told me but I think she said he played for the Baltimore Orioles. Anyway he would NOT sign an autograph for her son becuase "..oh man you are UGLY..I only sign for girls who I want to lay". HuntingtonM15 02-21-2004, 01:36 AM Originally posted by sally mander Today's stars (Ben Afflick, J LO, Drew Barrymore, Colin Farell, etc..) People like that usually send preprints through the mail. SPLAIN 02-23-2004, 10:41 AM Well, that's better than nothing! As for Clark, he is on my HATE list from now on, didn't know those things about him. But i have been saying for the past few years that any show produced by him usually STINKS, he has no class. |
