Im not talking about a reunion.
Im talking about just starting off a 12th season as if it were nothing.

Just in the fall of 2004.... NBC plants Cheers back on its schedule after 11 years off the air.

What would you have happen??
(keep in mind that everything that has happened on Frasier has OFFICIALLY happened and that none of that can be changed)

I say....
Diane was Chapter One.
Rebecca was Chapter Two.

and Lilith is Chapter Three
(really.... theres not much more to say)

It's been nine years since we've seen Sam Malone. We find that he has been married for six years. That's right; Mayday has finally settled down (he still has a wandering eye, though). One thing that one notices immediately is that Sam no longer feels the need to hide his bald spot or white hair!

Norm, gainfully employed as an accountant, still hasn't paid off his bar tab. His buddy Cliff has been retired from the post office since 2002. He's still the same old Cliff. The only thing we notice that has changed about him is that he no longer wears his postal uniform.

Carla might look a bit older and have more grandchildren, but she's still the same old Carla.

The fact that Woody was elected city councilman hasn't been mentioned since "One For The Road." Now, eleven years later, the fact that he resigned in shame after only three days in office will be tackled. Woody and Kelly are still married. They now have four kids.

Semi-regular: Dr. Frasier Crane is still enjoying life in Seattle, but he still pops into the bar once or twice a season when he visits Boston. And yes, his drink of choice is still a scotch on the rocks.

Semi-regular: Paul Krapence still regularly sits a few seats down from Cliff. He still feels that he "misses everything."

Rebecca has moved back to San Francisco and hasn't been heard from for years. The way it should be!

But I haven't really created a wife for Sam, unfortunately.

MIne:

Lilith goes back to the ecopod, and so Frasier has to move back to boston to take care of Frederick.

Sam finishes a messy divorce and goes back to being a "hound" only to find out.....well he's a little older...but he's still got it!

Diane Comes back....:D

Norm is still Norm..NOTHING has changed (just how it should be)

Cliff is head of his branch

Woody has kids with Kelly

Becks moved back to San Francisco with Don

I change my opinion....

I would have Frasier come back to Boston to try and revive his relationship with Lilith.

Sam has been married for two years.... to Diane.

Norm is Norm.

Cliff is the same.... without the uniform.

Paul got back together with his ex-wife.... but found her cheating with Phil.

Carla now lives with 6 kids and 11 grandkids.

Woody doesnt work for the City Council anymore.... and he works back at Cheers along with his wife Kelly. (they have 2 kids)

And....Rebecca has moved back to San Francisco and hasn't been heard from for years. The way it should be!

personally, and in reality, if NBC brought Cheers back for the 2004-2005 season, i seriously think that it would be a more than semi-new cast.

as much as i would hate that, think of how true it could be. yea, the same ppl did stay at the bar for 11+ yrs, but since TV is more-or-less 'dead' right now, i think NBC would want 2 draw in a new audience. times have changed since the 90's, and NBC would want more than "us" (the 'old-series' Cheers fans) to watch the show. they would want 2 draw in a new, bigger (younger, maybe) crowd, most likely. (ie. the new cast members would b young). so heres my highly controversial view (lol):

Cheers
NBC - Fall 2004 - Season 12

Cast:
??? - (Coach's nephew)
??? - (Coach's nephew's love interest-wife? gf? etc?...)
George Wendt - Norm Peterson
Rhea Perlman - Carla Tortelli
John Ratzenberger - Cliff Clavin
??? - ??? (bartender)
??? - ??? (another barfly)

Coach's nephew, whoever he is, now owns Cheers, and is the head bartender (sam's equivalent). he is def. a relative of coach, but has his own personality (for the 'better') too.
of course, theres a love interest (the diane/rebecca equivalent), but im not sure if it could b his wife, or a g/f, or just someone like diane or rebecca or somewhere in between...whoever she is, she works at Cheers, in some capacity.
Norm...still Norm!
Cliff...still Cliff, but instead of spending 50% of his time at Cheers, he nows spends 100%, since he no longer is a postman.
Carla...still a barmaid after all this time, but still Carla at the same time.
There would be another bartender, the Woody-equivalent. but he wouldnt be a coach, or a woody...he would b a totally different bartender...but how would he be?
another barfly...we need another regular! lol who could he(or she!) be?...
of course, Paul and Phil would be back, and perhaps some of the other regulars, but by the end (season 11), they seemed 2 b the permanent too (w/ Alan, Steve and Tim). however, i would not make any of them regular (cast members)

what do u think?
ill add what happened 2 the rest of the cast (now 'gone') later

I disagree completely.
I think if Cheers were to come back.... it would have either the same core cast (Ted, Rhea, George, John, Shelley, Kelsey).... or it would flop.

And another thing about the "younger crowd".... Cheers never really had any young people in the first place.
The cast isnt much older today than the were the day the finale aired.

And Ive come to the decision that Rebecca should be killed off.

I was thinking that Andy Andy strike it rich.... and have Rebecca fall in love with him.
And then she begins to gain back the weight she had as a teenager.
And when they set off for Reno to elope -- Rebecca chokes on a bag of M&Ms and dies.

I don't think she should be killed off....that would get Sammy depressed...and I don't want Sam de-.....wait if he's depressed about rebecca's death and starts to really think what is of value to him and isn't...and starts to think about a certain blonde....and then calls her and she comes back and they get married...ok I go for killing becks off!
