When the show was on when I was a kid, my dad forced me and my older brother and sister to turn it on something else because it was making fun of God and taking God's name in vain and using the God word in a not-so-nice way for silly stuff!! I didn't know why my parents would do that but when I watched an episode all grown-up a few years later, now I understand why they did that!!

Uh, why? This doesn't exactly explain any difference in your understanding between when you were a kid and when you're "all grown-up".

Well I am a Christian and a Baptist and I see nothing offensive about Amen. I've seen several episodes (it comes on my local UPN station on Saturdays) and I see nothing offensive about it. It is just a fun show about several Church members. Deacon Frye is the only one with questionable religious leanings and that is what makes the show funny.

Well, my parents thought that it was like give me your money and they just made fun of God for some strange reason!! Like I said I was only a kid!! I almost got grounded over it everytime I turned the channel without them not knowing it!!

As far as the spiritual side goes, the Deacon was not right with God. LOL. He was doing that he should not have been doing. However, no human being is perfect. (Deacon Frye had a long way to go) Everyone has a different walk and although not perfect, one should strive for execllence. All christians have growing to do in certain areas much like these characters we see. Some of the personalities do exist in the lives of real people in some churches. I like the show and it is something that some people at my old church would talk about throughout the week. One of the biggest issues was the Reverend Chickening out on the ceremony to Thelma. That was one of the best storylines.

There are people in church like Deacon Frye and worse! But it was a funny show. I like that kid from next door who seem to know everybody's buisness!! He was FUNNY!!!
