What commercials from years ago can you remember? I remember seeing ads for Little Caesars in the early 1990s yet I haven't seen any in over a decade at least. Their ads were funny, at least from a little kid's point of view. I also remember ads for a product called "Squeeze-It", which is/was a fruit drink that comes in a bottle that you squeeze. I haven't heard of this product in years and I didn't see any at the store recently.

No Got Milk ads today could match the ones that were from the 1990s. Here's some from what I remember

* A priest buys a chocolate cake, eats it, tries to get a milk from a vending machine that rotates it's products with a card, only to cause it to malfunction. He then proceeds to hit and kick it only to see several nuns watching it.

* A man is walking and tells someone on his cell phone that he's fired, then is run over by a truck. He wakes up in a room with a white cat (I think), a white fish, big chocolate chip cookies, and a huge refrigerator which he opens and finds a whole lot of milk cartons. After eating part of a cookie, he tries to get the milk only to find all the cartons are empty. He then goes, "Wait a minute! Where am I?" The words "Got Milk?" are shown in flames, indicating that he is in Hell.

* A man is in a restaurant and is served pancakes and water. He asks for some milk but is informed that the lady next to him as the last one. While she is away, he drinks the milk and finds that there is only a quarter of it left in the glass. He puts his water in the milk and pushes it to her side of the table just as her boyfriend settles in. She comes in, gives a dirty look, and you hear the words, "Check, please."

* A man in a body cast is fed a chocolate chip cookie but experiences a minor torture when the family who fed it to him starts drinking milk and he really needs some.

I remember getting an old tape with the Muppets 30th Anniversary in 1986 and I have to say, those were the best years for commercials. The McDonalds ad that was on there rocked. Better than any ad for that company today. The Doublemint commercial with the familiar, "Double Pleasures" song was on there, too. And who could forget the Mighty Dog commercial with a dog dressed in a superhero outfit.

The Energizer ads, don't get me started on those. I remember an ad where Darth Vader has his light saber ready to slice and dice the Energizer Bunny but it runs out of power. He then checks the batteries and it they are "Supervolts". He then yells in frustration. Another commercial I remember is the one where the Bunny outsmarts a vampire, who is turned to dush by the morning sun.

Speaking of batteries, the Duracell commericals with the wooden family members with the batteries in their backs were sort of cool. But no battery ad could beat the Energizer ones of the early 90s.

Boy the 80s and the early to mid 90s were the best years for commercials, don't you think?

I don't really remember any commercials, not even from the late 90's. Or now.

1-800-94JENNY! That is the only one that stands out, because those commercials were ~*hawt*~. That's it. Don't know any other commercials.

Pets.com had those hilarious Sock Puppet Ads in the late 90s. They used to crack me up every time.

I have a tape from March of 1990 that has a LOT of commercials on it. I had another tape that I think was from 1988, but I'm not sure where it is at now. One of the commercials I remember on it was a Pepsi commercial - I think it was PROBABLY local - they just showed a bunch of Pepsi cans stacked on the top of each other, then you saw a handful of Mario memborilia. (sp?) That was it. On my tape from 1990, they had this REALLY weird Ocean Spray commercial (anybody remember those? Do they even make Ocean Spray juice anymore? As I recall, those were popular the whole decade). You remember how neon was in then, right? Well, it started out with a lady wearing a neon pink dress that, get this, GLOWED IN THE DARK. She was just dancing to some music and then the lights went out and her whole dress glowed in the dark, then she picked up a cup of Ocean Spray grapefruit juice, and the juice was also GLOWING. Then a man appeared out of nowhere and parts of his tux was glowing, like his tie. Then it showed an ocean making waves at the end to show the Ocean Spray logo.

I have many shampoo commercials on it...Finesse, Heads & Shoulders, etc.

There's a KFC commercial on it that amuses me. It was some limited-edition promotion that they had in the spring of 1990 for Hot 'n' Spicy Chicken. I don't know how long they had that promotion, but yeah. It showed a bunch of guys sitting around a HUGE tub of chicken...The black guy sitting with them took one out, ate one and then he started talking and then breathed fire. The fire shot so far out of his mouth that it reached one of the basketballs at the other end of the court, then the ball bounced to the guy, he grabbed it, shot it and it went through the hoop AND burned the hoop.

It's been quite a while since I last watched my tape...I'm going to be stopping by my dad's later today, so I'll see what more tapes I can walk away with. :)

Oh God, you're getting me nostalgic! I remember the commercials listed...*sigh* What gets me even more nostalgic is when I see 80's/early 90's logos....they're so primitive compared to now. I remember when somebody would be speaking on the TV screen, say during the news, and just their name would come up, and not the accompanying channel's logo...Here's an example.

Those are both from 1983, but I remember they used them well through the early 90's or so. *nostalgic*

A few days ago, TV Land showed a retromercial for Honey Comb where the kids were in the Honey Comb Hideout singing "Honey Comb's big, yeah, yeah, yeah..." It brought back a lot of childhood memories and I've had that song stuck in my head ever since.

my favorite was the cheese commercial with the little yellow guy and he'd sing "I hanker for a hunka cheese!"

Wendy's use to have the funniest commercials back in the 80's. It started the whole "Where's the beef?" mania. Federal Express had some real good ones too.

The puppet has resurfaced as the new spokesman of 1-800-Bar-None commercials.

Great! I haven't seen them yet. It could be that they're not airing here.

I saw that one as I was editing my "The Family" skits from the Carol Burnett Show marathon down to one video(two actually).

I decided to keep that commercial in there!:)

Was that technically a commercial? I seem to remember it as one of those Public Service Announcements on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Like the School House Rock sort of thing.
But I remember when I would be out playing and I would feel myself getting hungry, I would start singing that song in my head. Then I would go in and eat some cheese!:D

They showed that as a Retromercial during The Carol Burnett Show marathon last weekend! I was changing tapes as it was going to commercial, so I waited for the "Where's The Beef?" commercial to end, because I wanted that on tape. :biglove:

I remember a McDonanalds ad with then-NBA start Charles Barkley in the mid 1990s. A little kid came up to him and said, "Hey you're the guy who can't sing the Big Mac Song." The joke was that there were a series of Mickey D's ads where Charles Barkley had trouble singing and remembering the lyrics to the Big Mac Song. "Cheesy beefies? Beefy cheesies?"

Some of the funniest commercials that I remember were for Benson & Hedges cigarettes.

This was when the longer length cigs were new (I think most of them are this length now; I dunno, I don't smoke), and people weren't yet used to these longer things.

One ad had a man squeezing onto an elevator full of people. There was enough room for him, but not his cigarette. It got caught in the doors as they shut.

Of course, this was back in the day when they allowed tobacco ads on TV, and when they allowed smokers onto elevators.

 That was quite some time ago....I think cigarette ads were banned from TV sometime between 1970 to 1973.

Yeah I remember one for Luzianne Iced Tea,where they show
a box of the tea,and all of a sudden a spoon would stir the tea
in the box picture. It looked so real.
''And The Grey Poupon commercials another saying as popular
as ''Where's The Beef?' Only instead of an elderly lady,it was
two elderly men adversting for dijon mustard not Wendy's and
they passed each other in cars. One would be eating and say
'' Pardon me but do you have any Grey Poupon.''
And the other would say ''But of course.'' and hand him the jar
of Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard.''

"Where's the beef?!"

Honeycombs commercial where the kids say, "It's not small.. no no no!!"

The old Hertz commercials with OJ Simpson where he's running through the airport.

Coca-Cola commercial with Mean Joe Green, who tosses the kid his jersey. "Have a coke and a..smile."

David Naughton in the old Dr. Pepper commericals: "....Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper, too?"

For Life cereal, with the two brothers: "I'm not gonna eat it.. Hey, let's get Mikey!"

McDonald's commercials with the Hamburglar.

These are but a few that I remember.

I remember watching this commercial! They would play it on Saturday mornings between cartoons in the mid-seventies.

I also vaguely remember the Burger King king that Jenya posted.

Some of my favorites were the Morris the Cat commercials for Nine Lives cat food. I don't know how many Morrises they went through, because there were dozens of these over about 20-25 years, at least!

Anybody remember Burger King commercials from the late '70's? There was one that was really cute with a little boy about two or three getting his first haircut. It had a song that went with it, which was, in part: "...a little clip, a little snip, now there it's not so bad. You're ready for a special treat at Burger King with dad."
(Hamburger restaurant commercials were actually quite good back then.)

My vote for the most annoying set of commercials of the 60's and 70's: the "Please - Don't Squeeze the Charmin" commercials with Mr. Whipple.

I remember the McDonalds commercial when it goes: "do you believe in magic? and i hope you do. you'll always have a friend wearing big red shoes." haha i loved that one.

Also the pizza one (im not sure if it was pizza hut or little ceasars or what) but it had the little boy going to the birthday pizza party and his mom or aunt or whatever she was told him how to behave and stuff and he came back and was like, "i did everything you said. I was even nice to a girl"

Also the one about like laundry detergent where the kids found a dog and they tried washing it and hiding it from their mom.

i love those old commercials! =)

I was watching that commercial during "Behind the Walls of 'Full House'" on TV Land, they only have one retromercial appeared on TV. This time was a commercial for Spaghetti O's back in the late 60's and early 70's. This picture I took from my webcam. You should buy it at a grocery store, and it's fun to eat. Enjoy! It's just a fun snack.

Does anybody remember the old Mountain Dew commercial?

I guess it was around early to late mid 90s (like till 1997)

They did a spin on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"

Instead of it going

I see a little silohuetto of a man

Scaramouch scaramouch

will you do the fandango?

it went:

I see a little silohuetto of a man

Mountain Dew Mountain Dew

will you do the fandango?
