Today is a very special day...Because it was on this day, exactly 21 years ago, that Mama's Family debuted on NBC. The very first episode to air was "Vint and the Kids Move In".

Though I didn't even start watching Mama's family until I was 7 or 8, around 1997, I still wish it a happy birthday.

Happy Birthday Mama's Family!!!! It is hard to believe that the show is really that old! Never having watched the original airings (born in 1984), I have been a loyal fan for years!! I watch it almost every night! (I record it everyday!)

Wow..I just checked your profile and it says you'll be 20 in just a little over a week from now...If I don't see you then, then happy early birthday! :D :birthday:

I wasn't born until mid-1985, but I VAGUELY remember watching Mama's Family when the syndicated episodes were still in its original run..."Very Dirty Dancing" is one I remember...The rest are fuzzy.

Same here. I remember it being on, but I don't remember any specific episodes.

Thanks, and that's cool that you can actually remember Mama's Family even if a little fuzzy. The earliest shows that I watched that I have memory of are shows like Full House and Family Matters on what used to be ABC's TGIF. (FYI I can no longer stand watching Full House, my TV tastes have improved since then). I think I can also remember watching The Hogan Family on occasion. I find that all my favorite shows are the ones that I missed during the 80s!!! (Family Ties, Cheers, Mama's Family, etc.)

Yeah, I too remember it in its first run. I remember vaguely the original now "non-seen" opening, and Alistair Quince, and I remember watchin' it at my grandparents' a lot when it was dark outside, i.e., "prime time", lol---I really remember Vint dippin' Naomi in "Country Club" for some reason.

My sister and I loved to watch it at Gran 'n Pop's and I'm so glad I can remember it a bit! :)
