It had been one of those terribly long and annoying days, but finally their shift was over. CD had asked him if he wanted to grab dinner, and of course he had agreed to that. So now they were sitting at the Anchorside, chewing on fries and burgers.

Suddenly he felt something heavy on his shoulder and he looked down to see CD's head leaning against him. Of course that made him smile. With a motion of his hand he signaled for the bill and the barkeep handed it to him and then motioned him to stay still.

When he saw how cute that couple looked, though whenever they came in and he talked to them, they insisted they weren't a couple but just co-workers, but whatever they were, they were looking incredibly cute that way and he got his camera to take a picture of them.

Nate grinned and paid the tab, careful not to wake CD. But it seemed like she was so exhausted that she completely was out of it, no wonder though after a 48 hour shift.

Slipping his arm under her legs he carefully lifted her up. "Hmmm?" She stirred a little at that.

"Nothing." He whispered into her ear. "Go back to sleep."

"Hmmmm." Was her only response when she wrapped her arms around his neck, somehow sensing she was being carried but too sleepy to think about it.

When Nate got to his car he somehow managed to open the door and when he sat her into it he just couldn't resist to gently kiss her temple and stroke her bangs behind her ears. "Sweet dreams." He whispered and got in himself.

Nate pulled up to her apartment on Green Street and parked the car. He reached for her purse and dug out her keys. He slung the purse over his shoulder, murmured softly, “Only for you would I EVER do that,” and climbed out to go to the other side.

Nate decided to unlock her apartment first, to keep the door open, so he wouldn’t have to mess with it when she was in his arms. He turned the knob to apartment 9 and walked inside. He threw her purse on the sofa and went to her bedroom. It was very neat, and everything was in its place, which made him grin.

He progressed to the bed and turned it down. He fluffed the pillows and decided that that was good enough, so he went back downstairs to get her.

CD’s head was up against the door window, and she was still fast asleep. He grinned at how peaceful she looked when she slept, but he disturbed the moment when he opened the door wide enough to support her head with his hand.

She didn’t flinch when he brought her back into his arms, although she did cuddle up next to him and buried her head into his chest. He smiled, shut the door, and lugged her upstairs. He grunted when he finally got her to her bed, but he still kept his cool and softly laid her down.

CD groaned and snuggled into the blankets as he wrapped them around her. He grinned and kissed her forehead again.

"I guess I'm gonna head home then, huh? Need some sleep myself..." He said looking at her. Of course she didn't reply though because she was sound asleep. "Well goodnight then..." Again he stroked through her hair and realized that maybe her ponytail might be uncomfortable for sleeping on it. So slowly he reached out for it and as careful as he could removed the rubberband and placed it on her bedside table, thankful that she hadn't woken up. "You need anything else?" Stroking her hair again he whispered. "Maybe a glass of water if you get thirsty at night?" Deciding that that was a good idea he tiptoed into the kitchen to get her that.

When he came back she still was sleeping and had cuddled herself into her sleeping position at the other side of the bed because that was her favorite corner there.

Smiling he watched her some more, unable to pull away just yet. "I really should go home..." He said sighing and turned to leave... but couldn't.

"Oh dammit... you're gonna kill me tomorrow morning but I don't care." Kicking off his shoes he unbuckled his belt and tossed his pants and shirt aside before climbing into bed with her, wearing just his boxers.

Carefully he got under the covers himself and snuggled close to her. Unable to believe how amazing it felt to cuddle close to her he kissed her neck as he wrapped his arm around her. "Sweet dreams." Nate immediately fell asleep and felt so comfortable with her in his arms.

A couple of hours later, Nate had rolled to the other side of the bed, and CD stirred. She grumbled, still mostly asleep, because she could feel her work slacks still on, and they were uncomfortable. She sat up enough to unzip them and throw them carelessly onto the floor.

Her room had heated up, and she was too unpleasant in her shirt, so that came off as well. “Don’t need a freaking bra to sleep in,” she mumbled and unclasped it, adding it to the pile.

CD climbed back into her bed under the covers, only wearing a lacy lavendar thong and feeling much better.

She fell back asleep, and Nate had felt her move in the bed, so he rejoined his position, half-awake, with his arms wrapped around her. He hadn’t remembered feeling so much skin before, but he had nothing to complain
about, so he accepted it and fell back asleep.

Morning rolled around, and CD grimaced at the sound of her alarm clock going off. “Piece of ****,” she muttered and slapped it off. She stirred a little but felt an unusual weight across her chest.

Nate had heard the alarm too and started to wake up, not wanting to yet though. "Hrmrrrrmmm." He murmered burying his head deeper into her neck.

Swallowing CD blinked shocked. She turned and saw her partner all snuggled up to her... half naked... which they both were...

"I do not remember this... why the hell do I not remember this?" CD muttered and slightly slapped his shoulder. "Nate dammit wake up!"

He did and smiled because it delighted him that she was the first thing he got to see in the morning. And he just woke up from the greatest dream. They had gotten married and she had told him she was pregnant... they were living in a house together... but the strange part was that they already had a teenage daughter together in that dream. She was pregnant too and everything was really chaotic, but they were so happy. Remembering that he grinned even broader and sleepily kissed her lips. "Morning."

She kissed him back, liking the feeling, but quickly pulled away. “Nate, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” she exclaimed.

Nate fully opened his eyes and noticed that he wasn’t in bed with his pregnant housewife.

“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOUR CLOTHES?!” Both CD and Nate shouted at
the same time, as CD moved out of his arms.

She didn’t get out of bed though. “Nate, why are you in my bed?”

“CD, I promise when I put you in here, you were fully clothed!” he exclaimed, the situation turning out to be even worse than he’d imagined the night before. “You were fast asleep, and then I...”

“I know you didn’t take my clothes off, Nate, I remember doing it in the middle of the night.” she grinned when she saw him draw in a sigh of relief. “It was really hot in here.”

He grinned and started the macho guy routine. “Yeah, well I WAS in here with you,” he remarked.

She just grinned at that, knowing exactly he waited for some kind of comeback to that one. "Actually you ARE in here with me... and I still don't even remember how I got in here..."

He blushed at that. "Well you fell asleep over your dinner and... ya know... you had been so tired... so I didn't wanna wake you..."

"Awwww." She blushed as she realized what he had done. "So you brought me home? That's so cute! Thank you."

"Anytime babe." He winked at her.

She then glared at him again though. "Don't you 'babe' me! That still doesn't explain what YOU are doing here..."

Swallowing he looked down, knowing that 'you looked so cute and I just wanted to cuddle' wouldn't be his perfect excuse out of this one. "I was really tired too... I almost fell asleep when I drove here... and I figured I’d better risk getting killed in the morning than an accident at night..."

She shook her head. “There was a couch, ya know,” she commented, although she very much enjoyed the mental picture of him carrying her to her bed and snuggling up to her all night.

“Yeah, but then no one would’ve made your room all hot!” he joked.

She rolled her eyes. “You’re a dork,” she replied. “But anyway, thank you so
much for taking me home,” she said and looked down at her blanket covered body. “And sorry you had to wake up to THIS.”

Nate’s eyess got big. “Sorry?!” he exclaimed. “Did you just say SORRY?! That was the best thing I’ve...” he realized what he was saying and immediately stopped himself.

CD blushed. “Best thing you’ve what?” she shyly asked him. “You forgot to
finish!”

"Welllllll..." He grinned. "Let's say I was pleasantly surprised to wake up with your boobs in my face..."

Blushing she pulled the sheet around her a little closer ar that. "Jerk."

"Oh come on!" He sighed. "I wasn't really awake yet... I just saw you like that and I guess I figured that we slept together... I mean you could have been anyone..." He tried to somehow get on her good side again.

"Ohhh I see how it is... so I'm just some other chick to you and all you're after is getting laid... no matter who... no matter how." She knew that it really hadn't happened that way, but right now she loved to see him sweat. And she really liked that he had assumed he'd slept with her and kissed her.

"CD!!! Hell no! Damn you know me better than that... I just... damn I was all sleepy... my brain wasn't functioning yet... and... god I don't know!" Groaning he ran his hands through his hair.

Chuckling CD leaned a helluva lot closer to him. "Nate?" She purred seductively.

At that he gulped and looked at her with big eyes, feeling his boxers get a lot tighter around him. "Uuuh yes?"

She closed her eyes and smiled broadly while she slightly moaned as if she was remembering the best sex of her life. "You were SO good last night..." Then she opened her eyes again and laughing winked at him.

She protested, as they tumbled around in the sheets. Nate stopped when he realized that he was skin to skin with her. His hands assumed before his mind kicked in.

“I can’t believe we just did that,” CD remarked after he rolled to the other side of her, wrapping his arms around her.

He grinned and stroked her neck with his forefinger. “I’m so glad we finally did,” Nate commented and kissed her cheek.

“You are?” she questioned.

“Yeah, aren’t you?” he asked her nervously.

CD opened her mouth to answer that when her phone started to ring. She wanted to get up to answer it but Nate wrapped his arms around her tightly and pulled her closer. "No. Don't." Lovingly he kissed all over her neck, sucking and nibbling on her skin.

Smiling she ignored the call and turned around to him again. While she was locking lips with him the answering machine picked up and they heard a voice.

One that made CD pull back immediately. "Hey Vannillagirl... are you at work already or something? I'm just calling to tell you that my case today got cancelled. She found out she's pregnant and they reunited. So I don't have anything to do all day long and I was wondering if maybe you wanna take the day off or something... well I guess you aren't there. I'll see ya vanillagirl..." Brian hung up again.

Nate groaned and gave her a look "Vanillagirl? How corny! And cheesy! Please don't tell me you call him chocolate!"

"Of course I don't!" She slapped his arm. "Stop being an ass and get dressed. We're late for work." With that she got up like nothing had happened... neither the sex, nor the phonecall.

He looked at her grumpily and stood up as well. He put Spongebob back on and muttered obscenities under his breath looking for his jeans.

“What was that?” CD asked him.

“Nothing,” he mumbled.

“That’s what I thought,” she commented and put on a different shirt.

“No, actually I said something else,” he spat out. “Why are you acting like this?!” he exclaimed. “Didn’t last night mean ANYTHING to you?”

She rolled her eyes. “Nate, come on,” she joked. “You said it yourself, that full moon works in mysterious ways! It was just that or something else, no big deal,” she passed it off as just another sexcapade in her life.

“You just cheated on your little boyfriend, but it’s not a big deal?!” he exclaimed. “I don’t think you’re being honest with me, CD!”

That ticked her off and she got right into his face. "First of all: Don't call him that! Second: That is NONE of your damn buisness anyway! Third: YOU came on to me! While I was sleeping even! You... you... abused my unconscious state of mind to get laid! That's what happened!"

"EXCUSE ME??? I think you were very much conscious when you BEGGED me to take you!" Nate yelled back at her.

"YOU..." She started to yell again but then took a deep breath. "You know what Nate? I'm gonna go take a shower." With that she walked into her bathroom.

Groaning he punched his fist into the nearest wall in frustration and then winced at the pain he caused himself. "If you think I give up that easily you're wrong..." He muttered and once again got rid of Spongie and followed her into the bathroom.

CD was letting the water pour down on her and just watched him when he entered.

He looked right back at her and stepped under the shower with her.

"What the hell do you think you're doing now?!?" CD hissed at him.

Smugly he grinned at her and put his hands on her hips. "I need a shower..." He whispered and leaned in to trail kisses along her neck.

She pushed him away though. "Do you seriously think you're gonna score again now?" She hissed and glared at him.

Grinning he pushed her against the wall. "Yeah I do." He claimed her mouth for a very passionate kiss and then whispered into her mouth. "Because you want me..." His hands roamed all over her body again, gliding over her wet skin to caress every inch of her body. Parting her lips with it he slipped his tongue into her mouth and slid his hands to her thighs to grab them and lift her up.

“Nate, I don’t wanna,” she murmured as she attacked his mouth roughly back.

“You don’t?” he teased her in between kisses. “I love your way of showing it then, baby,” he replied and pressed her butt up against the shower wall.

He readjusted her into his arms, and called out her name as he began to go over the top.

“Naaaaate,” she shouted and dug her nails into him. “Make it last,” she pleaded. “I want to feel you forever.”

He nodded, mumbling, “One more time, my ass,” and slowed his body down a SMALL amount, so he could still be in her.

She didn't hear what he said though because he brought her over the edge with him and they screamed out each others names.

"Oh god baby." He whispered and held onto her tightly, trying to catch his breath again.

"Yeah... whoa..." CD nodded and his lips were on hers again immediately as he carried her back into the bedroom and laid her down on the bed again. "Ride me." He whispered into her ear, unable to ever get enough of her.

She blushed but climbed on top of him. “Anything for you,” she replied and let him come into her again. She steadied herself, putting her hands on his chest, massaging her way up to his nipples.

He groaned as she played with them, and slowly started to move above him.
“Mooooooore,” he muttered and grabbed her ass.

Eventually the couple next door collapsed in each others arms again, breathing heavily. Lovingly stroking over her belly Nate grinned at CD. “Who woulda thought that you’re such a tornado in bed, little Vanillagirl.” He smirked.

“Call me that again and I swear I’m gonna punch your lights out!” She glared at him and slapped his hand away.

“But Brian does it too!” He pouted, but actually he had just wanted to bring that topic up again, wanting her to tell him Brian was history now.

She didn’t though. “I keep on telling him not to do that too. It annoys me.” Getting out of bed she started to gather his clothes and tossed them at him before putting on her own. She decided for a darkblue satin thong with matching bra and her black pinstripe suit over that.

Of course her sudden change back to the ‘this never happened’ attitude pissed him off. Angrily he put his stuff on again. “So, tell me, did you cheat on Paul as well?”

“Once... but I was really drunk and had just found out about him cheating on me. And don’t start with me like this!” She glared at him.

“Gee sorry for wanting to know how I stand with you...” He buckled his belt and glared back at her.

“Nate dammit you’re my partner! Do you want that to end? Because I actually had the impression we work really great together.” She sighed.

That would just cause way too much confusion...” CD had decided to enjoy it while it lasted but didn’t want an affair between partners, she had seen how that had ended with Magda and Peter and she didn’t want to lose Nate, especially not to hear he had found something better one day, someone he loved and dump her as his bedbuddy for the new girl. So she was convinced that the only right decision was to accept this as the best one night stand she’d ever had and move on again. “We’re just way too good friends and all... you got what you wanted so be happy about it, and we really gotta go now or we’ll be late for work.”

“Fine.” He sighed, knowing her well enough to see that something was holding her back, and pretty sure that was Brian... successful lawyer in designer suits... smart guy who was making the big bucks. No wonder she thought he was better than him with his Spongebob boxers and cop paycheck. But he knew she wanted him, just by the way they had made love, it was so perfect and they really had melted into one during their long extasy. Now he just had to prove it to her that he was the right guy and not Brian... and no matter what it would take, he’d fight for the love of his life. “Let’s go to work...”

At the same time it also was time for CD’s neighbor to head to work. She was locking the door to her appartment with the number 7 on it and when she heard another door open and close she looked up and turned around to see the last thing she had expected to see, especially after the sounds she had heard from that appartment earlier. It really took a lot out of her not to burst out laughing now. “CD... Nate... hey.”

“Jinny!” They were as shocked to see their friend there.

CD saw she was locking the door to the appartment next to her own and she looked at her stunned. “Don’t tell me you live there!”

“Actually I do...” She now laughed. “And you...” She pointed towards appartment number nine.

Nodding CD showed a look of surprise.. “Wow, really?” she exclaimed as her face reddened. “Have you been there all morning?”

Jinny grinned. “Yep, sure have,” she replied and laughed when Nate turned to CD worriedly. “So Nate, you come all the way over here just to pick up your partner?”

He looked at CD, and she gave him a look. “Um, well, kind of,” he stuttered. “She, uh, made me breakfast, and now we’re going to work together,” he lied.

Jinny nodded and pointed at his clothes. “So you decided to wear the same thing you wore yesterday?” she teased him.

Nate’s face turned five shades of red. “Well, you see, my washer is broken. Yeah, so CD said she’d do my laundry, but I just dropped it off this morning, so ya know, it hasn’t got done yet.”

Jinny laughed, loving to torture. “CD, I can’t imagine you doing that for someone like good ‘ol Nate here!” she exclaimed.

CD faked a grin. “Of course I would!” she told Jinny. “He’ll just owe me big time, so I’ll have to figure out some kind of payment.”

Jinny grinned and thought to herself, 'Looks like you found it this morning,' but said "Oh I'm sure you'll come up with something..."

CD slightly blushed and then cleared her throat. "Uhm... since you're heading to work too... wanna just hitch a ride?"

"Yeah sure." Jinny nodded and followed them to Nate's car.

Nate didn't say anything during most of the ride, since he had actually wanted to talk to CD alone, having found hope again in their kiss... but with Jinny there now that didn't work of course.

CD and Jinny meanwhile were busy talking about a recent case.

When they pulled up to their Division, Jinny went her separate way to her partner, and CD sat quietly down in her seat.

“CD,” Nate said as he stood beside her. “Could we talk?”

CD rolled her eyes. “Nate, there’s nothing to talk about, alright?” she hissed. “We’re supposed to be working.”

He nodded sadly and took his seat. They worked silently and separately on their casework for awhile, until CD’s phone rang. “DeLorenzo,” she responded and heard a familiar voice. “Hey Brian!” she exclaimed and looked up at Nate. She blushed, stood up, and walked to where the coffee was for a little privacy.

“Hey baby, I missed you this morning!” he exclaimed happily. “I called your apartment to see if you were up to a day off with me, but I guess I’d just missed ya!”

CD grimaced. “Yeah, I guess so! Damn, that sucks, sorry about that.”

Brian smiled. “Not a problem, Vanillagirl!” he proclaimed. “We can have lunch instead, how bout that?” he asked her. “Then tonight you can come over, and we can reacquaint ourselves!”

CD slightly groaned at his overeagerness. “Yeah, we can have lunch, Brian,
that sounds great!” she encouraged him. “We’ll see about tonight though, I might have to work late.”

“Oh,” he replied, slightly disappointed. “Okay, Anchorside at noon?”

She nodded. “Sure, I’ll see ya there then,” she said in a monotone voice and hung up.

When she returned to her desk Nate slightly glared at her. "So Brian huh?"

"He's meeting me for lunch..." CD said and turned back to her paperwork again, not looking forward to that at all.

"Well have fun..." He muttered and turned to his own stuff again.

A few hours later Brian walked through the door and up to CD, grinning broadly.

"Brian... hey..." She said surprised.

"I figured I'd come pick you up." He smiled back at her and gave her a peck on the lips.

Nate hated seeing him kiss CD. Actually he hated seeing him, period.

"Think about it at least?" He squeezed her hand some more.

"Okay, I'll think about it." She smiled at him and he got up, kissed her forehead and walked out again, determined to win her back.

Meanwhile at the Division Jinny walked up to Nate. "Hey where's CD?"

"Lunch with her boyfriend." Nate muttered angrily.

At that she frowned. "Wait, what? Then that wasn't you this morning?"

Nate’s face turned every shade of red there possibly was. “Wha wha what are you talking about, Jin?”

She grinned. “CD was gettin some action this morning, like you wouldn’t believe!” she replied and winked, “or COULD you believe it??”

He looked to the ground. “I have no idea what you’re talking about; it was probably that Brian character,” he mumbled.

Jinny rolled her eyes. “Yeah, so that’s why I never saw him come out of her apartment, but I DID see you, and you had a ‘Smile, I Just Got Laid!’ look on your face!” she teased him.

“Shut up!” Nate hissed and covered her mouth. “The whole world doesn’t need to know that!” he muttered and continued, “You know what would happen to CD and me if Raina found out? Our partnership would be history!”

She nodded and removed his hand. “Okay, okay, I’m just joking!” she rolled her eyes. “I promise I won’t tell anyone, especially not Miss Blabbermouth!”

Nate drew in a huge sigh of relief. “Thank you.”

Jinny nodded. “No problem,” she replied but frowned. “Wait, if you two did it for hours this morning, then why in the hell is she out to lunch with her boyfriend? Don’t you think that’s a little backwards?”

Nate sighed. “It’s a long story, and today shouldn’t have happened before Brian was history, but it did, and there’s nothing we can do about it.” he sighed. “I just hope she doesn’t hate me for helping her cheat on her boyfriend and leaves me, too,” he paused and breathed, “Oh wait, I don’t have her yet.”

Jinny grinned. “Wow, you’re even more self conscious than most women, Nate, geez!” she exclaimed. “Give the girl some time!”

He nodded. “Maybe you’re right,” he replied and picked up the phone, dialing a number.

Nate sighed. “It’s a long story, and today shouldn’t have happened before Brian was history, but it did, and there’s nothing we can do about it.” he sighed. “I just hope she doesn’t hate me for helping her cheat on her boyfriend and leaves me, too,” he paused and breathed, “Oh wait, I don’t have her yet.”

Jinny grinned. “Wow, you’re even more self conscious than most women, Nate, geez!” she exclaimed. “Give the girl some time!”

He nodded. “Maybe you’re right,” he replied and picked up the phone, dialing a number.

“Who are you calling?” Jinny asked.

“The reinforcements,” he stated. “I’m gonna need back up,” he told her, as someone picked up on the other line. “Yes, I’d like to place an order for a dozen roses.”

"That's the spirit!" Jinny grinned and patted his shoulder.

By the time CD came back from lunch, that she had decided to take alone at the park after all, she frowned when she saw two bouqets on her desk, a dozen red roses and a dozen white ones. Of course everybody was incredibly curious at that... especially Raina. "Uhhh CD... hey!" She stood next to her desk when she approached it and handed her two cards. "Uhhh those must've fallen out..."

"Fallen out..." CD snatched them away from her with a glare and read them. The first one was from Brian. "Vanillagirl, I really want to see you again. These roses remind me of your hair... love, Brian." Rolling her eyes she stuffed that back into the white roses.

"How'd ya know that belonged with those?" Raina asked stunned.

"Because the last time I looked into the mirror my hair wasn't red yet." CD muttered, glaring at her and tried to hide her grin when she read the second card. 'We both know you want me to make you scream again. Meet me downstairs in half an hour - Spongebob.'

"Who the hell is Spongebob?!?" Raina exclaimed.

"Gee Raina, don't you watch TV?" Jinny grinned. "It's a cartoon character..." She had to admit though that she was dying to know why Nate had chosen that one.

“I know THAT much,” Raina replied, “but I want to know who the HUMAN Spongebob is!”

CD grinned. “Wouldn’t you all like to know?” she smirked and glided as fast as she could downstairs.

Nate was standing there, waiting. “There you are!” he exclaimed. “I was hoping you’d come!”

She smirked. “Well, not yet, but give me a couple of minutes alone with you, and I’m pretty sure I will,” she teased him and led him into the women’s room.

“What? Why are we in here?” he asked her.

CD grinned. “I think we need each other now, and I don’t want to wait,” she explained.

“I wanted to take you someplace special,” he whined.

She kissed him and drug him into a stall. “Hey, having sex in a little stall is
pretty special!” she defended it and abducted his lips. “Now shut up, and let me formally thank you for those gorgeous roses.”

"Roses? What roses?" He smirked innocently but she shut him up with another kiss and practically ripped his shirt off him.

"Hold on!" He put his hands over hers and sighed. "CD... look, you know I enjoy being with you immensely... but I really don't wanna be your little affair whenever Brian isn't around."

"You're a damn idiot!" She glared at him. "Why the hell do you think I met him? I broke up with him... he is determined to win me back though..."
